Additional fields for product but NOT the standard one.

Hi all,

I read somewhere a method where additional fields are added into the mysql db and templates directly.

I wishi to add in additional fields using this method, but I can't find the original post for it!

Thanks!

So you don't want to use Extra Fields (which do exactly this) but something else?

Because they would allow the provider to create extra fields and besides the standard one works on a product by product basis.

For instance, all of my products any my providers products will be videos, therefore, for example, I want to add in "Video length" as a field on every product, r.

Thanks!

That is exactly how Extra Fields work? Do you mean you are using Pro and want the admin to be able to create extra fields?

Yup..the admin would create the extra field(s) and it would be standard on all products. That is possible with the extra fields that comes with x-cart?

Thanks.

EDIT
************ YES I'm USING PRO *******

Ok, adding 'Pro' to your signature will REALLY help with questions like this, as many thing (such as Extra Fields) are completely different.

There is a mod in the custom mods forum that allows Admin to add Global Extra fields for all providers. Have a search for 'Pro and Extra Fields'

Ballinor,

Sorry to be a pain. I've tried to search and I just can't find it. I'm know I'm being an idiot because I've seen this thing before but I've tried looking under the terms you gave me and I must be going blind or something because it just escapes me!

If you find this thread and post the url, I really, really would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Chris.

Thanks,

Chris.

That's the only one I know of, no use re-inventing the wheel :)
