Anonymous Checkout

How do I make the user name and password fields optional. I have the Disable anonymous checkout unchecked but the username and password are still mandatory.

Re: Anonymous Checkout

They shouldn't be...are you using a mod of any sort? What happens when you don't enter a user/pass, are you getting an error?

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Qualiteam did some modifications for me.

When I try to submit without username and pass I get an error saying username and pass required.

Re: Anonymous Checkout

It's also doing the same thing on a brand new intall of 4.1.8. Could this be a bug?

balinor 09-10-2007 07:21 AM

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Isn't a bug, as I don't see this happening on any of the 4.1.8 installs I'm working on. You absolutely sure disable anon-checkout is NOT checked?

Turn off sign-up for membership and try it.

Re: Anonymous Checkout

No love... I have a ticket in with qualiteam. It seemed to start acting up after the upgraded for me. Hopefully they will fix it.

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Ahhh...an upgrade...I'm guessing the issue lies in there somewhere :)

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Ashley, can you please post back if you find out what is wrong. I just checked one of my upgrades I recently did and it did the same thing...

Balinor, for future reference, you say the upgrade may be the issue. Do you do a fresh install from the newest branch for your customers instead of upgrading? I am curious to know the most stable way to go from one version to the next to have the least amount of problems.

balinor 09-10-2007 10:22 AM

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Actually we don't do much upgrading as we only install the stable release, which up until 4.1.8 was 4.0.19. Now with 4.1.8 there seem to have been some issues with the upgrade from 4.1.7, and it sounds like this may be one of them. A fresh install will never be a good option for a custom store, so upgrading is definitely the way to go. Just need to be sure to fully test the store once you do upgrade to make sure there aren't any anomalies like this one :)

Re: Anonymous Checkout

I have a customer that is on a host that the upgrades will not go through b/c of an sql timeout. They are on 4.1.2, suggestions? Or should I start my own thread. Eventually, once they start getting traffic, they are moving to a far better host.

Sorry Ashley!!!

Re: Anonymous Checkout

I just verified that my store, upgraded from 4.1.3 through every revision to 4.1.8 WORKS AS EXPECTED -- I have "disable anonymous checkout" unchecked, and the "*" next to the username and password fields are NOT visible, AND when the customer proceeds through checkout, if the username and password are left empty, as expected - the transaction is just fine.

There must be something with your store -- my live store and my test stores both work as expected on 2 browsers (IE & FF) and 2 operating systems (mac/winxp-pro)

Re: Anonymous Checkout

I went from 4.1.7 to 4.1.8. Mainly b/c when we opened the one w/ the problem, that was the current branch & the boss man did not want to wait for 4.1.8 to come out to get started. 8-[

I have the same issue on a fresh install. Did anyone come up with an answer?
Thank you.

I just did a fresh install as a test, and have the same problem. Bal are you sure yours are not doing this? I don't understand.

Check it out...

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Oops.. my bad... lol. I customized the form and linked to the register form, instead of the checkout link. Man I feel stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupid.

The fields are always mandatory on the register page. If you fill out the form thru the checkout process it's not mandatory.

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Well, I found it in Moduals you need to turn off "Fast Lane Checkout". Thats all I needed. Thanks for looking!

balinor 09-12-2007 02:56 AM

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Yea, if you click on register, you obviously WANT to register, so the user/pass would then be required ;)

hhiker 09-12-2007 06:32 AM

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Yup, I looked at the register page, not the check out page myself. WOOPS!

balinor 09-12-2007 06:38 AM

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Heh. Oh and Mike, I wouldn't recommend turning off Fast Lane Checkout...that is a much cleaner checkout process than the default X-Cart one, will gain you sales for sure.

mike moore 09-14-2007 10:32 PM

Re: Anonymous Checkout

I unchecked 'Fast Lane Checkout' in moduals. That worked for me.

Re: Anonymous Checkout

I am having this issue since we upgraded from 4.0.18 to 4.1.8. I have disable anonymous checkout unchecked. I changed the "new customer?" click here to register to click here to continue. That should help prevent confusion. We are having quite a few customers emailing us that they are getting errors stating username and password are required. I have a ticket opened with x-cart.

ARW VISIONS 09-24-2007 10:33 AM

Re: Anonymous Checkout

I accidentally changed the link to the wrong page. I had it pointing to the register page Check that.

TA 09-24-2007 10:51 AM

Re: Anonymous Checkout

That looks to be okay. I can get through the checkout process when I test it out. But, we are getting numerous phone calls and emails from customers that are not able to. When they do an anonymous checkout, the user/password fields are not required, the next page will say it is required.

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Well now I am having a similar problem and currently cannot take ANY orders because of the problem. Have had to shut down my store because of it.

http://www.vacsew.com/home.php?shopkey=904

Try placing any order. When you get to the checkout page,
Click on "New customer? Click here to register"

Fill out the form. Hit submit. Notice that it keeps bringing you back to enter the username. Try entering a username, still brings you back.

The weird part is that it was working just fine until yesterday. No changes or anything.

Re: Anonymous Checkout

We have a ticket open with x-cart. I will let you know what we come up with when they reply. For us, I think it is an upgrade issue. It is weird that your store was running fine and suddenly has problems. Ours seems to target only certain customers and I don't see a common link. Some are new trying to register for the first time and others are long time users.

Vacman 09-25-2007 06:15 AM

Re: Anonymous Checkout

aahhhh... hmmmm... Not sure what, but according to the Quailiteam they said that there was a problem with my "skin1/main/register_shipping_address.tpl" file.

It is back to working again, so you might want to look at your as well.

TA 09-25-2007 11:29 AM

Re: Anonymous Checkout

Well, I think we may have found our problem. The cart was doing exactly what it was being told to do. On user profile options, we had shipping name *required. Some customers were unchecking the box that said ship to a different address which then hid the required fields. I am not sure we have it all nailed down yet, but this was part of the issue.
