MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

A while ago I was asking for a program that seems to be exactly what this seems to be.

http://www.xcart-manager.com/

But I havent heard of MagneticOne before. I am playing about with the trial and it seems awesome. But before I get too excited I thought I'd ask here if anyone use this? is it worth buying or does it have limitations?

Thanks

It looks as if the oscom***** version is popular.

the demo seems a bit buggy to me and I cant get images workin right but if I could it looks real nice.

This software is used by many people, it requires some time to learn since it is not simple, however people who manage larger stores (1000+ products) really appreciate it.

Please use reporting tool to report problem reports - this greatly helps to fund them out and make it working even better.
Customers receive free updates for 1 year.

You also can use support forums to get questions answered etc.
xcart-manager.com/forum/
Supported to registered customers is performed via email due to data security reasons.

Please ask more questions and we will answer them here or at product support forums.

Thanks for the reply.

Why has no one replied to this thread, hasn't anyone tried it? This program has great potential but TBH the demo is too restrictive and buggy for me to buy it at this time.

Why put the short-ass time limit on the demo. It doesn't give me enough time to test the product properly. Just a suggestion.

We can create trial license for you and then discount on purchase if you willing to test and give your opinion here.

We will review limitations of the demo according to your comments.

Please report problems you've found here http://www.oscommerce-manager.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=9 and using internal bug reporting tool.

Hello,

If you are willing to create me a trial account I would gladly give it an honest go and post my opinion here. As I have already implied, I am already fond of the program but was asking to see if anyone else has used it.

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

Savajr,

For store manager I am not really interested, as X-Cart now does good CSV imports & exports).
However some of your modules are very interesting.... SEO ones for example...
But would be great if had some screen shots or could see something working?

I clicked on the testimonials for Google Payment module and was little shocked - first one went to not allowed access page and second to your own sub domain (makes me wonder if these testimonials are anywhere near real).

I must admit, I am also unsure how many of your mods work with multiple languages, including Asian ones (Chinese, Korean, Japanese products etc. - what happens to foreign language text for URLs - searched or ignored.. can handle or crashes?) E.g. SEO & Google Map ones are both interesting (just wondering how they compare to other modules available out there).

Just an idea that if people could see more they might be excited to buy.

Hope comments are useful - cheers, Asiaplay

I can't get the new version working. I can connect to the database fine and I can see the orders but no products / categories.

It worked in the old version.

Does this support 4.0.x or have you changed it to 4.1 only?

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

I tried Store Manager last year, but it was so full of bugs I gave up after a short while.

Another bad experience with MagneticOne has been Google Checkout, I misread the requirements. Buying in a rush I saw "PHP 4.2.2+", but missed the bit in brackets with "(PHP 5 is not supported yet)".

This to me is a brilliant Idea, unfortunately I do not trust any third party program to access my SSH or SQL server when vital information is available to people I do not know. This to me posses a security risk.

Now if X-cart came out with a product like this I would be all over it.

I appologize for late answer
new message notifications aren't coming to my domain for some reason

That problem with disappeared products was solved on later release
please see details here

Store Manager support both versions - 4.0 and 4.1

You don't disclose any information by using Store Manager.
You are the only person who is accessing your store information.
No information is sent to MagneticOne or discplosed in any other manner.

Technically that simply connecting to remote database(your store) from your local computer - (direct mysql connection or connection to phpbridge that connects to database), nothing else.

Hi,
I may be very naive, Store-Manager seems like a great mod, but what exactly does it do, that regular .csv import/exports don't? and especially how does it specifically benefit stores with 1,000+ sku's? If anything it seems from the demo that there are more manual indiviual steps to do.

I really want to buy this mod, just need some detailed explanations if anyone is willing!

Thanks so much.
Best,
Chris

It has very powerfull and flexible importing tool.
You can import simple lists via standard impot, but when it comes to large lists, I mean REAL LARGE (100 000+ records) lists - windows apps will always have advantages.

Simple examples, you can automatically set field value based on expression during import (like convert currency, increase/decrease price etc).

Even more - for complicated data lists - there is "Automated Import" plugin, i.e. you will configure import rules once and next time when you import - you will just use the configuration you created.

It can run based on schedule, importing data from your supplier every X days etc.

Even more

Product Management
We have Mass Changer plugin - you can change ALL/MASS prices in your store by multiple criteria, say increase by 15% before Christmass adn then decrease by 10% 3 weeks after or for products costing more then $100 decrease price by $5.

You can move 1 000 products from 1 category to other with mouse in seconds (using drag-and-drop)

you can assign 10 000 products to more then 1 category in seconds

you can select multiple custom products and delete them with few seconds

you can assign 10 attributes (for ex. colors, sizes etc) to 10 000 products in seconds

Export
You can export into Excel all products starting with letter "A", from oen of 3 particular categories, priced between $10 and $30, which are in stock and....

I hope you understood :)

Very flexible reporting

You can design custom reports inside the tool and store it for future usage.
You can do this yourself or hire developer who will do this in minutes using visual report/query builder

you can....

well - there are whole bunch of things you can do with this tool and we are working on even more advanced tools

Plan to have basic Busines Intelligence tools added soon.
Such tools are available for shopping carts starting at $10k - $50k +
such services cost like few thousands for single session...

We don't have detailed documentation for it, but we are working on it.

As conclusion

I belive it is better to spend 1 hour once learning the tool and then save 1 hour every day then spend 30 minutes every day doing tedious tasks again and again.

Has anyone been able to install and use this with success? I downloaded the demo which seems to work OK with the demo database, but I can't get it to work with our production database. Tech support has not answered my questions in a couple of days.

We have gotten it to work & just tried it yesterday after 6 months idle since purchased as we noticed that they had released several updates.

Not sure how useful it can be at the moment since the app is a bit sluggish very intuitive. The idea is very good and we look forward to a day when it doesn't freeze up our desktops:)

Best,
Harris

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

Harris,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am impressed with what it can do and with the interface. It looks like it makes adding products MUCH easier. But it hangs on me when I switch the database profile over to our production environment. I really want it to work but don't want to waste the money if it won't.

Any hints for getting it to work?

Ken

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

I am not very technical! but I have noticed that it doesn't always 'save' new information in the preferences file.

It took 3 or 4 times for it to finally take, also the settings need to be exactly as they are in the database, SSH etc...

It should connect, that it does.

Hope this helps. It's pretty much where my knowledge ends:)

I followed all of the instructions and am able to connect to our production database, but once I flip the switch and it tries to bring down the data it hangs. I've sent in a ticket and have gotten no response.

I saw the knowledge base but there is nothing in there that describes the problem I am having. There is no phone # on your web site so I contacted support.

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

I have been trying unsuccessfully to get this working.

I checked the knowledge base of my hosting company (WESH) and found this,

Quote:

Problem:
********
Rather than use phpAdmin, I use a Windows GUI package (mysqlcc) to connect to my MySQL databases. It needs to know Hostname (as well as User name and password).
Answer:
*******
For security reasons we DO NOT allow ANY remote database connections to any of our servers. We have closed all remote ports to databases on both the servers and our firewalls. To administer your databases, you will need to use phpMyAdmin from your control panel. This also applies to programs like NaviCat

I take it this means I can never use this software, unless I move to a different hosting company?

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

Hi there , just noticed this thread and thought I would throw in my two penny worth.

Your hosting company is quite correct in not allowing external access to you SQL Databases this is a security feature. Howerver the Xcart manager is able to tunnel through SSH in order to access the SQL server. This is very reliable and combined with proper firewall rules in place very secure.

If you are running this in a shared environment, I would suggest that you get this moved to a dedicated server or at the very least a server specifically setup for xcart stores. Sorry but in my experience most shared hosting restrict you too much to be able to build a successfull store based on xcart.

We have built many stores all based on xcart with some pretty amazing results and stores turning over between ё200k - ё300k with a couple of stores now turning over more than ё1Million a year.

to be frank we could not do this in a shared environment and could not have done it without the Magnetic One Store manager. This is one MUST HAVE product if your serious about building an online store.

dedicated hosting these days is very cheap, if your serious about bulding an ecommerce store then take the plunge - you wont regret it.

As one more alternative is working via PHP MySQL Bridge, which is little different then with direct MySQL connection, however works well for many merchants. Mark made good suggestion - one more connectivity method.

Marc

Thank you for your words.

I was able to get XCart-Manager working with my hosting company, and I have to say it's a great product.

My work rate is much higher than using xcart admin.

However, it does seem to crash 3 or 4 times a day on me.

I bought two licenses and it is even worse on my laptop.

Having said that, it isn't much of an inconvenience as I just restart it and carry on from where I left off.

Would like to see stability improved though.

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

I must say that Store Manager for x-cart has been extremely productive for us, I have over 15000 products to work with and this application is a must if you are monitoring and updating thousands of products daily. I also manage and maintain database structures, customer orders, import and export products via Store Manager; you can even change the customers order details with this program. Store Manager is basically an all in one product that makes life easy for you!

MagneticOne Store Manager is very solid and stable now, I must admit that there were a few bugs in the early stages but than again every program has bugs in them. But Serge and the team from MagneticOne have always provided us with fast support and I really mean fast! But most of all, they do provide a genuine service.

Problem Fixed

I just tried to reinstall my second lincense today on my laptop and i cannot get it to validate my registration aswell not sure if its the same problem your having but mine kicks me out and make me set my name and key everytime.

must be a server issue with them maybe becouse i turned off all my firewall settings and set myself as dmz host and still cannot conect to them.

Problem Solved !!!

Ok i got the problem fixed i had to login to the lincense server and release it from my old install to my newly re-formatted system i guess it was looking for my old host name or somthing, Strange!!!! but anyways problems are solved and im back online fixing my store again :)

And they did respond to my mail messages but they sent to my old address not my new e-mail address and i failed to check that :( ..... My bad !!!

Store Manager works directly with database when copying product options.
Now you need to find out how your client side js works - ie. this is related to js not store manager.

Juset select few products at once and the paste to them
There is small video itro on xcart-manager.com showing this in short
