A good decision. Jeremy has been quite supportive on the forum for the last weeks. His topics were very helpful.
Congratulations and welcome as a new moderator Jeremy.

That's great news; I already was concerned about balinor who appearantly is doing more than he can do in moderating ... well almost the entire forum it seems :)

Congratulations Jeremy!

And kudos for balinor!

Woo hoo, I'm taking a vacation! :)

Re: New Moderator

The way I see it, nothing changes, except there's a new menu on each forum page, and I can help Padraic sort out the posts to their correct categories.

My reason for participating in this forum (as well as the 2 audio professional fourms I visit) is to hang out with people that are smarter than I am, and to learn as much as I can. If I can give back anything when I can, it is in appreciation to the "smart guys" that helped me out when i was starting. I learn something from this forum every day, and my store keeps getting better and better. I am a better store owner, and a better programmer because of discussions here. I have Balinor and many others to thank for keeping everyone on-topic.

I expect nothing to change - except I now can move a thread to where it belongs. Nothing more, really... I am still learning somethig about xcart every day, and I am here because I enjoy the challenge of making it beter, and meeting other xcart owners from all over the world.

No vacations!!! But I'll do my best to stay out of the way and file posts... Thanks for the nice welcome.

Jeremy

Re: New Moderator

Is there a possibilty that users can actually see who are the moderators; which is common use in forums? Is this disabled by X-Cart or not desired by the moderators?
I could well be posting in a moderators' only thread without realizing it :)

At the bottom of the forum index, you see a link: view forum leaders:
http://forum.x-cart.com/showgroups.php

There you can see all forum moderators and their permissions.

Re: New Moderator

ooops, missed that one (and I thought I knew forums :) ), thanks for the heads up.

But a visual moderator 'mark' is missing though ... well who cares :D

Re: New Moderator

p.s. carpeperdiem; as moderator you should now also check 'Use Invisible Mode' in your options and join the invisible force behind the forum! ;)

Not concerned... If people see a green light or not... I usually have a few browser windows open (and tabs in each) - BUT I am pretty good at time management and ignoring non-mission critical issues -- and I am pretty good at diverting PM traffic back to the forum.

I know that some poeple are concerned about posting in public... and they send PMs... I usually suggest non-private topics stay in public. The strength of the community is so much better than anything one person can type. No need to be invisible. I'm not hiding.

Re: New Moderator

Yea, PMs should not be used to contact moderators unless there is a problem with the forum. The whole point of a community is to post in the community so that everyone can benefit from the answers :)

Cheers Jeremy!

You've contributed a lot to the forum community even without being a moderator, so this status is well earned indeed.

Congratulations, Jeremy! You've been very helpful to me as I waded my way into these forums. I'm sure you'll do a great job. :)

Re: New Moderator

Well Done, I am still a newbie here and learning each time from the smart people on this forum. Hopefully I will be as good as most of you one day.... Only thing that I am missing is time. I have a full time job elsewhere in the IT industry, nothing to do with webdesign and e-commerce. So I am grateful and happy with all the knowledge and advice from each one of you. Keep up the good work!
