if a product is outstock, notify when in stock - preorder

If a product is out of stock, is there a way to put a textbox on the product page asking for the customer's email address? Then, once the product is in stock, can the system automatically email the customer indicating the product is in stock?

This would be a really great mod for everyone!

mpdaddy 05-08-2003 05:16 AM

I have been looking for a cart that does this for ages. I would be willing to pay if a friendly programmer would like to give a quote.

Regards
Wayne

kumar 05-08-2003 06:29 AM

I am willing to split the cost!

Message me if anyone can do it!

MOC 05-08-2003 06:32 AM

I also participate

mpdaddy 05-22-2003 09:41 AM

I would love this feature too. Newegg.com has this feature if any programmer wants to see it in action. I will help pay for this mod if anyone can get it done. If it has been done, I will pay you for the code.

Wayne Wetterhahn

funkydunk 05-24-2003 01:28 AM

This mod has been completed now.

jeeya 07-29-2003 11:17 PM

.

I am interested in this mode.

funkydunk 07-29-2003 11:22 PM

If you want to pm me I will let you know a cost for it :)

john80y 07-30-2003 07:49 PM

I too would be interested but when a product goes out of stock for me it disapears from my website until I put it back in stock...

How can I fix that first ?? (I knows its probably a checkbox somewhere !)

funkydunk 07-30-2003 11:04 PM

Yes - its a check box in the general settings area of admin.

"Disable out of stock products"

:)

dennis 09-01-2003 12:07 PM

40 pounds!!!!!!!!! i don't want to be rude, but isn't this a bit to much for 10 minutes of work?

Dennis!

PM me for reaction!

funkydunk 09-01-2003 01:14 PM

That cost for for a modification that lets the customer click a button that will automatically email them when the product is back in stock. (ie when you go into admin and change the stock levels)

A little more than 10 minutes work...mind you if you can write that mod in 10 minutes I will outsource all of my mods to you :D

dennis 09-01-2003 02:30 PM

i have been trying and i must say... hehe

i will get out of it, just having problems with the stock change bit...

:)

DogByteMan 09-01-2003 02:36 PM

40 pounds!!!! What is that in US Dollars???

And will this disable the don't show out of stock products in case we want to set it in the future?

magnumkp 09-02-2003 12:37 AM

бё40 sounds quite cheap. Just because the original cart didn't cost that much due to lower overheads in Russia, doesn't mean that "user mods" should. This is real world business guys.

Nope - that will still be there should you want to switch the product/mod off.

I do not agree with you, for that price almost i buy a complete x-cart (bit more) so i find 40 far to much, and i would really purschase it if it was 10 euro's. With me much more people so if some of them moderators make the prices better we all might purschase copy's instead of sharing them with eachother :) (JOKE!!!).

Dennis

PS, make me that price and i purschase without sharing :)

funkydunk 09-02-2003 08:19 AM

So you couldn't do it in 10 minutes then?

dennis 09-02-2003 08:23 AM

read my line from yesterday :)

i don't really need it it would be nice to have but not spening that for it, sorry... I think that in one of the versions ahead of us we are going to get it standard.

Don't want to be rudy, and yes, i have missed some important bits in how i thought this should be handeld in the code :)... so more or less it was a funthing to me..

Do like your website though! Make me a really good price for complete lot and pm it or mail it dennis@internetix.net

Dennis

DogByteMan 09-20-2003 04:46 PM

YO! funkydunk... :!:

I really want this one. Can it be made to work if you use CSV to update inventory??? Please Say Yes

funkydunk 09-21-2003 12:29 AM

dbm,

simple answer at the moment is that it doesn't....sorry

DogByteMan 09-21-2003 03:55 AM

I already know it won't work with CVS now... What I want to know is. Is the type mod I am talking about even possible or should I give up on it.

funkydunk 09-29-2003 07:27 AM

This will work with the full import function now.

ccarson2k3 09-29-2003 09:33 AM

I think its alright to ask money as long as he supports the mod to all the customers and upgrades it when a new x-cart version comes out (if needed)! Other than that $49.50 is a bit to high!

dealsondeals 09-29-2003 09:48 AM

8O If you can't figure out yourself and build the mod, and someone else has to spend the time to do so, why then shouldn't they charge for it. X-Cart Devlopment wouldn't do it for free.... we all know that is true.

Besides, with all the freebie mods and advice FunkyDunk has given to the members of this forum, what's $49.50 for a mod you really need. I'm sure you have profited 10 times that, from his postings here if you have done any serious mods to your cart and use this forum to keep on track and save time.

$49.50 for fuctionality that notifies your clients when a product is back in stock. 8O That translates into a higher sales conversion and probaly greater customer retention. Don't be so short-sighted. Pennywise, pound foolish!

 Never understimate the predictability of stupidity!

My two cents,

Glen

DogByteMan 09-29-2003 09:59 AM

Let me put it simply....

I paid for it. Why? Because I wanted it!

dealsondeals 09-29-2003 10:11 AM

 Exactly DogByteMan,

We can't get everything for free. It pays to reciprocate. I haven't bought this MOD yet, but I will very soon. My clients are going to love this one.

Once our advanced Bridal/Gift Registry MOD is done and the addition of this Back In Stock Notification and Marketing Manager, you talking about a complete solution that costs under $400.00 (for me of course, clients will pay more) that can compete with the big boys on their turf. That leaves alot of money for marketing and so forth.

FunyDunk, Groovico and Boomer, keep em' coming!

Regards,

Glen

funkydunk 10-02-2003 02:44 AM

Just to let you know that this mod has been improved and the new code has been sent to all existing purchasers for free.

It will now work even if the customer is not logged in by displaying an email box (with the usual email checking on it) and will add the customer to the notify list when they enter their email address.

If they are logged in them one click and they are added.

When 3.5.0 is released there will be a further improvement to allow admin to see which products have got customers waiting on stock to enable stock to be got quickly to satify potential sales demand.

dealsondeals 10-02-2003 04:56 AM

 I have bought it and it is fantastic! Keep up the good work!

Regards,

Glen

Kanyon71 10-02-2003 07:07 AM

I can give it to you for free, but you will have to give Funky Dunk some money! ;)

Actually I can't give it to you because I don't know what version you are using. Your sig is full of information totally irrelevant to the X-Cart Forum! ;)

Ralph 01-11-2004 01:47 AM

Hi I have just bought the mod, informing the customer when the stock is back in, but I can't see to get it to work, can anyone please let me know if there is anything eles I should have done after I followed the instructions.

I downloaded the file after payment.

Unziped.

Apllied SQL file to x-cart

unziped files to x-cart via FTP to my server

But the feature is not working, do I have to activate it any where?

kind regards

cotc2001 01-11-2004 02:48 AM

Glad you are going to buy it Ralph, yup heard that saying, sorry it just gets my goat when people who work hard at creating something don't reap the benefit , so when someone who knows that there is a price to pay tries to get it for nothing it annoys me. No offence but im sure you understand that a lot of people here (probably yourself included) are in business and if you give all your best stuff away free then it doesnt reflect well on your business skills.
