I'm assuming we have to wait for something new to show up in our file area? Right now, it still says NOT FOR LIVE STORES! Rida (not that I'm in a hurry or anything...) |
Does it include an upgrade pack
|

Thanks, that was a small quirk... (the comment for LC 2.2 beta was not removed) |
Quote:
It doesn't, we're planning to release an upgrade pack for LC SP2 in the nearest future. |

Okay, thanks. But...no upgrade pack? We have to start from a scratch install and redo everything? |
So 2.2 for new installs only for now. 2.1 users have to wait for the newbies to test it eh? Pity. My 2.2 site has only a small amount of traffic, the 2.1 site I have would really test it. As it is we may not be able to fully advise 2.2 newbies as they will get there first!
|
Just got LC 2.1 installed a few days ago... (you'd think they'd have given me the new one)... and saw today that 2.2 was released, and it was in my File Area, with no "Not for Live Stores" warning... so I went ahead and downloaded it. Trying to upload manually right now, as the installer keeps konking out on me. Will I have to upgrade my modules? or should those be good as is? Sorry, newbie here. :)
|
The beta installer kept conking out too, I would have thought they would have fixed it.
Are you trying to install on top of the 2.1. I dont know if thay would work. A clean install on its own database would be better. The latest version of every module you have would be needed. |
I using version 2.2 Beta1- how do I upgrade to 2.2?
|
May be picky but the demo store does not validate as HTML 4.01 Transitional.

There are a lot of add-on modules enabled at our demo store, that's why the demo store does not pass a validation. All modules shall be updated in the future. |

Ah I see, will the new modules also include a better install mechanism so that we can keep changes to our templates? |
IonCube / Zen
I see that it is now recommended that Zen optimiser is not used with LC, or at least lowering the optimisation levels. I wonder how many people will now switch web hosts? I am on a shared server and know for a fact that Zen is running and it is not possible to change the settings.

release date for upgrade tool
Hello,
I am just curious about the release date for the upgrade tool. I don't think all the bugs will be worked out until an upgrade tool is released and the majority of users upgrade thier sites, and report bugs. At that point an updated 2.2 will be released and I will be able to put it into production!! |

Ditto. I can't do anything until an upgrade pack is released, so I'd love to know an ETA on it. |

LC has been rolling along for 2 years with its bugs, I wouldnt hold your breath for a bug free 2.2  |
ver 2.2 bug report sticky topic
Quote:
Sheriff, Can you create a sticky topic in the technical issues thread dedicated to ver 2.2 bug reports? The qualiteam site heading says you "make the internet convienent for your clients and clients of clients". Having a central repository for bug reports and possible fixes is a must if I want to deal w/ bugs and code errors before my clients have an issue w/ them. [/quote] |
It is important to realise that Qualiteam do not officially support this forum, even if Sheriff pops in on his tea break! We have been arguing against this policy but so far nothing has happened.
What they have done is to introduce a special bug reporting facility in your control panel. Of course the problem there is that although your bug may get fixed, hundreds of other people will be using their installations oblivious to the fact that a) there is a bug, and b) there is a fix. Worst than that it is still possible to purchase modules that have known bugs. You are correct to be concerned, and you have my full support in your efforts to get a result. |
ver 2.2 SEO improvements?
Is anyone aware of any SEO improvements to ver 2.2?
Such as the ability to import category meta tags? |
2.2 does assist SEO. You can set a keyword meta tag and a description meta tag. You can even set the page title for products and categories. The title tag especially helps SEO. These additional fields can be imported in the product import. So the short answer to your question is yes.

2.1.2 -> 2.2.17 upgrade tool available
I noticed that the upgrade tool is now available in the qualiteam download area.
If I have alot of modules installed that I don't need or use, is it more advisable to do a clean install? |
Im going to do a clean install no matter the upgrade kit but I am also moving my store to the root directory. I dont think the old version is worth the time to upgrade it since i am doing this.
Using the upgrade kit to try to fix v2.1 would be comperable to putting a band-aid on the Titanic to keep it from sinking. |
Ran into a few things so far on the manual installation. I avoided using the windows installer because of all of the problems with the v2.1 one.
The install appeared to run smoothly and got the cart up but when I tried to add a product from the demo stuff I got a page not found php error for delivery.tpl. The file wasnt copied over when the skin installed, also was missing the classes/modules directory I had to manually add so I could try it with a module. Also the cart validates as html 4.01 with the UPS module and the bestsellers module installed. A quick analysis shows the code is pretty bulky still though. There are 38 HTTP requests for the index page. Qualiteam has this bad habit of taking an image for like the header of a box and splitting it into 2 or 3 seperate images for no reason. The column boxs arent resizeable so I dont see why the images are split up like that. Same thing for the search button. If the images were combined it would greatly reduce the number of HTTP requests. Info: The total size of this page is 146134 bytes, which will load in 29.32 seconds on a 56Kbps modem. This load time is with their demo stuff installed. Really its not bad for an online store but could be streamlined a bit more. |
