I'm very confused about x-cart 4.1 configuration

I could not find how to config my basic information including:
1. my company name, now the main area in the home is showing "Welcome to Your Company Name......" I need change them, how?
2. welcome words body, same as above question
3. Menu titles : I want to change "Categories" into word like "products", how to ?

1: Admin/General settings/Company options
2 & 3: Those are set in "Languages" and are either "text" or "labels" respectively.

You might benefit by looking up "Languages" in the X-Cart manual. There are many aspects that are controlled using this aspect of X-Cart. To begin with, read through the maual and especially the FAQ in the manual as well as on the XC site.

In your admin. area there is a "Languages" option. Once you choose a language, you can select a language type. Something like "Categories" would be a label vs. text as it is a simple title word. Search for "Categories" using the "Label" dropdown choice. You will see the variables that use the language call.

The benefit of this type of system is that you can change all instances with one click. Wherever there is a "Categories" usage of that label, you would be changing this (including admin. area). But, review this in the manual and be patient. It's a complex, but powerful program and you need to take small steps to get the most out of it.

I am not a new user, but am working on my first 4.1 install and I am trying to set the company name in the message on the welcome screen. it is set properly in the admin section under company options -- company name, but does not seem to be being picked up on the screen... any suggestions... and yes I have done a refresh...

It is a bug, check the bugs forum.

this seems like a pretty basic problem, you would think that x-cart would provide a quick fix for this... the only fix that i see is to change the language file not to use the variable... but this does not help the breadcrumbs at the top of the page.... any suggestions?

Yea, don't use 4.1 until it is stable :) Seriously, this version shouldn't be used at this point, it has too many bugs.

Then I'm afraid you need to bug X-Cart about a bug fix. They have a new bug reporting feature in your help desk area, try that.

good I thought I was the only one having problems trying to change the top header "my company".

is 4.0 really the only way to go to fix something so simple?

4.1.1 does solve this problem

Not true, or at least not entirely, i have 4.1.1 and have the same problem. Can i get a better explanation as to how to manually edit this value. Yes it is correctly set up under company options.

you have to change it in the language file -- look for the term "your company" -- it appears in two places... replace it with your information...

Do you have any idea where the "text" and "labels" are stored? I have a test version of 4.1.1 and a live version of 4.0.18 and these have been modified pretty heavily and I would like to just replace the defaults in 4.1.1 with the ones I edited in 4.0.18 if possible.

They are stored in the database and you edit them in the Languages area of your admin.

How come they were not included when I upgraded my database? Is there anyway to import them from my old database or do I have to redit all of them?
