Fedex label and live rates addon for Xcart
 

I've developed a complete Fedex shipping solution addon for both xcart 3x and 4x:
- integrates with Fedex Ship API
- prints Fedex shipping labels
- returns live Fedex shipping rates
- adds tracking number to order
- saves log of transactions with Fedex server

Feature list:
*Return live Fedex Ground, Home and Express rates from the Fedex server.
* Display delivery dates for Fedex Express services.
* Print Fedex labels on plain 8.5 X 11 paper.
* Optionally print order invoice on bottom half of label.
* Filter orders for Fedex shipping and print batches of labels for multiple orders.
* Configure options from within the xcart admin interface.
* Choose date and time for shipping when printing labels.
* Add tracking number to order after label is printed.
* Customer can choose:
- whether their shipping destination is residential.
- which signature service they require.
- Saturday delivery for Fedex Express.
- Evening delivery for Fedex Home.
* All transactions with the Fedex server are logged to the xcart log directory.
* Requires certification from Fedex
* Installation requires some modification to xcart files (install patches and instructions provided).

I got to test the demo and it was pretty good..

I am just getting him to write a thermal paper version of it for one of my customers..

once he is done I bet my customers would be very happy :)

I am still in the process of installing it - the real issue with is with FedEx not the mod itself - they make you jump through some big hoops to get your app registered with them - it invloves about a ream-and-a-half of paper from your printer and a couple of packing envelops to them to get it going.

This is no fault of the author - and he wonderfull about helping get you up and running, it the FedEx side that has got us bogged down.

I personally have not had the time available to sit down and finish installing this - one of those jobs that keeps getting put off becuase there are 30 other thing that are more important - like filling all those orders comming into x-Cart :)

I've released a rates-only version of the mod.

- Displays Fedex real-time rates for Fedex Ground, Home and Express services

- The customer can specify whether shipping to business or residential address so that the appropriate Fedex Home or Fedex Ground service is made available. X-Cart currently does not allow the customer to make a distinction.

- Fedex validates the state/zip code and returns error if mismatched that is displayed to the customer so they can modify their profile.

- Adds phone validation to customer registration form to ensure value is correctly formatted for Fedex.

- Allows the admin to specify a Fedex signature option so the returned rates will include this surcharge if applicable.

I've added the feature to track the Fedex shipment directly in both our Fedex real-time rates and Fedex real-time rates and labels mods.

The Fedex tracking info is displayed directly into the order history page.

Does this take the place of the link on the cart so that you can connect to FedEx rates ? The link that is on the cart is dead. Shouldn't XCart give us something for this. An update or fix for this ?

An update to both Fedex real-time modules has been released.
The update adds:

- Support for X-Cart Pro
- Optional validation of shipping fields so that customer cannot specify "PO Box" type addresses (Fedex won't ship to those).
- Optional phone# validation to ensure that a 10-digit number is entered (required for Fedex).
- Optionally display your Fedex account's discounted rates or the Fedex list rates.
- Optionally hide you Fedex account number when printing shipping labels.

I have read in other posts that the lack of the ability to specify a sender's name and address has been problematic for X-Cart Pro users.

Hi rubyaryat,
does this add-on allow the ability for users to get estimated shipping costs, based on zipcode and items in their cart?

This would be all without having to login or even require having an account on the shopping cart.

If the user it not logged in, the mod used the default customer zipcode in the admin settings, as per standard X-Cart method.

How do you envision the way to get estimated ship costs?
Is the user to click a 'get shipping costs' link from their cart totals from where they will be prompted to enter their zipcode?

yes that would be ideal. Or even a text box in the cart page, that says "enter your zip to estimate shipping cost". And then it returned the cost on submission.

Wondering if this module works with ver 4.1.2? If not, have you tried installing this into this version yet?

Version 4.1 of our Fed Mod is in production. Currently we are waiting until the 4.1 branch is stable before releasing it however. I'll be posting in the forum once we release it.

Rubyaryat- i was at the information page for your addon and noticed that x-cart 4.0.19 is not listed. is it compatable still? this looks to be a VERY handy addon for any store that uses FedEx

any one get this to work (RubyMod's mod and and the pre-login look up mod)? When I use a zip code outside of my state I get error stating that state and zip doesn't match.

Mine works ok but still needs some tweaking. I cannot print shipping lables from a provider account; only in admin. Adam promised he would look into this but he hasn't responded to my repeated e-mails and phone calls. Wondering if he is on vacation.

The problem turns out to be that in Xcart Pro, there is an xcart security measure that prevents a provider from working with orders that contain products that are not associated with the provider.

This is in provider/order.php
