Where do I put favicon code?

I tried to put it in head.tpl but it didn't have any effect...

Thanks!

skin1/customer/head.tpl add : <LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="/favicon.ico"> somewhere between <head> </head> tags

This works for icon in favorites listing.

Hmmm...there is no head.tpl in my Customers folder...

Crap, sorry about that, use home.tpl

My train of thought is scattered at the moment.

Yay, it worked, thanks so much!

I have put favicon icon on site root directory (not in x-cart directory) so your icon will be display in non x-cart pages also.

Well this is weird because when I first checked it, it worked, but now it's gone and I didn't change any code or anything...it's so odd.

Danielle,
Try delete your offline content & temp internet files & history.
Restart your pc, visit your site again & it should work.

regards,
Anand

Nope it's still gone. It's so weird because it did work right after I did it, then about an hour later I came back to the computer and it didn't work anymore...

Favicon is a notoriously flaky thing, as IE has a really hard time 'keeping' the favicon because it stores it by default in the temp internet directory. When your temp internet files are emptied, there goes the favicon. While it is a nice touch, I wouldn't stress over it too much :)

It does not stick...

IE does not stick to the favicon in the URL, try Firefox - the best browser :-)

I was involved in a similar discussion:

http://forum.x-cart.com/viewtopic.php?t=17442&highlight=

and the final solution suggested putting the link in meta.tpl

Having said that, Balinor makes some very valid points.
