Anyone using Flexy rectangles skin or Fashion Mosaic?

Hello
I just wanna see if anyone is using these skins before i decide to buy it
There aren't any screenshots for the product listing, just featured products.

Can someone help me out here?

Thank you

gizmo 01-28-2005 01:35 PM

Yep:
It would good to see Demo of these skins, after all the are paid for & would be good to see what they look like in real time.

kalmaster 01-28-2005 09:05 PM

i'm pretty sure there must be somebody out there?
Why doesn't X-cart just have the templates up for us to see in real time?

Thanks

Flexy Rectangle Skin

I purchased the FlexyRectangle skins. I'm still trying to get my site up and running but you can look at it and see what you think. I have made some mods to the original layout but not much. http://www.coloradoroasters.com

I would hesitate to recommend it for a couple of reasons.
a) It seems to be a bit convoluted in design. The skin1.css file for instance is huge compared to the original. It becomes difficult to tell what's new vs. what was original. I keep finding things that make me wonder if "this" is even being used anymore.
b) In my mind it's a step in the wrong direction. I would like to see my site have a much cleaner design based on CSS and now I've got this huge mess of tables that is harder to decipher. Disclaimer: I'm a reasonably good programmer but just learning how all this Smarty Template thing works.

I guess the bottom line would be: If you are ok with the basic design and don't plan on changing much it's fine. If you are planning to customize your site you might want to pass and just begin with the basics.

Essentially, your buying one template that has four different themes. The only difference being the colors used and a few graphics.

If I had it to do all over I would not buy it.

No one out there using the Fashion Mosaic template?

I am seriously considering buying it but would love to see it in action.

I'm using the Fashion Mosaic and really like the clean layout: http://www.toroleather.com . I'm still searching for some of the hex codes to warm up the appearance but it's getting there. I hope this helps.

we are running fashion mosaic.
with version 4.0.12 Works great....

The designs certainly look a lot nicer than the default templates!

I am in the process of debating whether our recently upgraded 3.5.14 carts should now be upgraded to the stable 4.0.12 version so that I can use these templates. One thing I wanted to ask is what sort of instructions come with them? My carts have been modified so how difficult is it likely to be to apply these templates?

Thanks

Dan

Thanks for posting the fashion mosaic examples.

Both the sites look really nice out of the box and good to see the templates in action.

Helped me to make the decision not to buy it (no reflection on your websites) as there are still too many things I would want to change with the layout but I do think something a bit more like this should be the standard out of the box layout for X-Cart. Looks much more professional and modern.

DanUK 03-22-2005 02:20 AM

Flexy rectangles comes in four different colour schemes. I'm paying X-Cart to apply it to one of my carts as it's quite heavily modified. I'm wondering how easy it is to swap between the four different colour schemes once it's installed, as I don't think I can simply rerun the install script? It looks as though the layout is exactly the same, just the table colours and some of the graphics colours change. In my (simplistic!) mind I thought it might be a case of changing a few values in the CSS file as well as copying over the relevant graphics.

Thanks

Dan

anyone else using Fashion Mosaic?
The one WECK used for their strawberries looked really nice but I couldn't understand the language.

Please step up and post!!!

Why doesn't X-cart just give you the ability run a demo of their skin?

So outrageous! Screenshots just seem to be too shady.

Thank you

weckie 04-04-2005 11:29 PM

just change the language to the one that suits you.

Top right of the site there is an language option.

you can choose between Dutch, English, German and French

Fashion Mosaic

I recently put up a cart for a customer using the fashion mosaic. Installed myself - about the same as other installs of x-cart. I like the ability to put a large central ad when they get there. This site basically is for use when they feature a book on a TV show so it is pretty limited right now in terms of products. The only bug I have found is that there is not a checkbox for "Is shipping the same address".

check it out at www.shopccm.com

Weck, this looks great!

btw, is there anyway you can switch this thing to so it can display the products in 3 columns as opposed to 1 filing down?
Thank you

weckie 04-05-2005 11:35 PM

in the general settings there's an checkbox what says: Display only featured products etc.....

Uncheck this and your products and featured products will display in a row of 3.....

kalmaster 04-06-2005 07:09 AM

Thank you
BTW Weckie, Where in the CSS did you change to put those pink borders around your items when they're listed like that?

Thanks =)

weckie 04-06-2005 07:52 AM

hmmm, as far as i recall i did not change the css.

So if it is changed it must be in the file where i added the borders. somewhere there must be the following: BORDERCOLOR="#??????"

DanUK 04-06-2005 08:04 AM

Hi Weckie,

Is your cart heavily modified? Reason I'm asking is that talking with X-Cart, I won't be able to run the install script for fashion mosaic/flexy rectangles to swap between the various four colour schemes provided. So I guess that mean manually updating. I'm wondering what you do to change to a different colour scheme?

Thanks

Dan

weckie 04-06-2005 11:08 AM

i dont change the color scheme, my xcart is modified (not heavy) but if i do not change the scheme because my modifications would be gone.

but you can always use ONLY the CSS files from different color schemes. Just copy them into your skin1 directorie. That should do it. Maybe you have to copy the images that comes with the color scheme.

I dont know, but i can imagine that this should work without altering your TPL files.....

Its just an idea, i didn't do it myself...

I am just setting up my website using Fashion Mosaic. I am not a programmer and also new to X-Cart - so it's a little slow going right now. The Finest Shops folks have been an immense help. My previous experience has been with Yahoo Store - and there is a BIG difference! I am seriously considering moving my current Yahoo Store over to X-Cart.

If you want to take a look at my site: www.purelypearls.com Just remember that it is very much Under Construction! No logo yet and home page photo needs to be replaced

I really liked the translation module. This is the first chance I have had to see it in action.

I'm building my new shop using fashion mosaic.

I haven't changed the index page yet and I'm still entering products so I can see how things work and how I want to change them.

You can see it at http://www.my-wedding-wishes.co.uk/xcart/home.php

Any suggestions on design etc. will be gratefully received. :D

How did you modify your top Header , we tried to modify the head tamplate but it does not change. What was the file you had to modify? Also for the footer as well these new skins do not change like the old standard one did.

Using Flexy Rectangles

I used Flexy Rectangles but had to modify a lot to get rid of "pink" - it's a guy thing.

Site in progress - not live yet - but design is done.

I have fashion skin but it does not do detailed product images out of the box.
xcart gold 4.0.14
fashion skin 4.0.14

DANMC 07-27-2006 05:31 PM

I'm using flexy rectangles techno. I like the skin a lot but I have't changed it at all yet as its a new install. I did notice a minor bug with version 4.0.18. If you choose any other colours apart from default it makes the background gifs tile rather than repeat on the y axis - you get a ripple effect. Kinda looks like corrugated cardboard.
