I love x-cart but, i don't it to be mentioned in all e-mails,receipt,invoice etc that is sent to my customers.Where to i edit or delete the "Thank you for using X-Cart shopping system " that is placed at the bottom of all the mails sent to my customers.

I once edited it but i can't find it on 4.0.9.Please help

That is the eml_signature language variable. Go to Languages, select Email and you will find it along with other e-mail text.

Where do you change it? In SQL database(where in SQL)?
 

i'm lost
is it a .tpl file you are talking about or changing a variable in SQL database? and if so, how do u do that?

So I click on Languages.... I get to Edit Languages screen, but there is nothing like Email link anywhere on that page......

Go to Admin::Languages::look for drop down window for selected language and select it (english for example)::look for drop down window that has text, labels, "EMAIL" and select emails:: search for what you wish to edit.

Also, go to each one of the labels, and text sections and search all of the text contained within and edit edit edit.

Make the cart more personalized and remove generics and references to shop, store, xcart etc.

how many emails?
 

do you know, by any chance, how many emails can the xcart php mailer handle at a time? if i have around 1000 in my database, can it handle it or what is the alternative method?

also i'm running into a problem that I would like to be able to send a newsletter which would be a copy of HTML page that is hosted somewhere else, is there any way to schedule phpmailer to send an email with contents of that page that is updated by my staff at the retail location and hosted somewhere else?

it's kinda tricky, it's been puzzling me for a long time now

I do not think the 1000 email addresses will be an issue as far as the mailer is concerned. It would be more of a host issue I think. Some of them watch these types of things and do not like it. Ensure you will be ok by maybe speaking to your host and explaining what you wish to do and the fact it is for personal store and opt in customers that wish to get the emails/newsletters.

Without doing a special mod for this purpose, I would think the best way to do this is to copy your html page (CODE) and then place it into the newsletter section as a new mailing and then send testmail to yourself to ensure it is going to look ok, then manually send it.

To my knowledge, there has been no public release of such a mod in the forum or anyone speaking about the need for it. Now that is NOT to say it HAS NOT been discussed, I just have not seen it.

I AM sure it could be done with special mod and then make it where the contents of a page could possibly be snagged from other location to send out.

BUT, your talking some work there and it would take one of the pro modders in the forum to do that. :wink:

See, the problem is that it would require a computer intelligent person to do that and my front desk personnel (they are nice people!) are rather illiterate when it comes to that

I might have to tackle php myself then.... do u know anything about which file (which module) in which directory executes the phpmailer script for the newsletter?

You know, I email out specials all of the time. One little thing I like to do is to make a link from a small banner that states "SPECIALS" and this link pops up all of the specials which are current.

Now you could do that to make it show on regular basis from the store as a link, but the other aspect about mailing them out on regular basis with little input from staff, well that would need to be modded.

This is not to say it could not be done, cause this IS afterall, xcart. Very versatile and the php/smarty capabilities are endless.

You could always post a request in the http://forum.x-cart.com/viewforum.php?f=18 area for one of the modders to help out. Will cost a little, but it would be a heck of a mod for easy use and mailing. :wink:
