Fixed most bugs I had a problem with.

The upgrade went smooth too. Just failed on 3 files of which are files I had made changes to it.

I still do not recommend using 4.0 branch unless you really need the new features.
There will be more 4.0.* releases shortly.
4.0.6 released this soon just to make the most recent&stable available for those about to start a new shop with 4.0.

3.5.11 is *MUCH* more solid.

We will provide a solid version of 4.x in a month or two.

The 4x branch eclipses the 3.5 with many badly needed features. Right now I am running a very small site on 4.0.2 and it works fine.

Need to have 4x features with our main site though, product variations is a show stopper, but above all, it must be stable.

I think the variations was the biggy with many people on this one so its important it works right

If you don't need variations (alot of sites don't) then stick with 3.5.11 if selling and running a business is your priority.

If you're a developer or very confident in dealing with any issues that may arise then and only then use 4.X.

We still use 3.5.X for ourselves and our clients.

Alot of new people chose 4.X as their first X-cart. It's ecommerce high season just now, you really can't afford to be messing around during christmas.

Business first, toys later :wink:

I just downloaded 4.0.6 gold and 4.0.6 x-affilliate. However, i dont see any afilliate control menu under my admin menu.It was working when i tried the 4.05.gold but now its blank.

This is fresh new installations with nothing changed.There is a bug somewhere.

First off, you are posting in the announcements forum. Secondly: Did you install the new affiliates module (from scratch) for 4.0.6? This is in the upgrade and install text. I have a fresh 4.0.6 (unmodified) install as well - and the affiliates is right there in the admin ...

Anyway, a bug isn't a bug unless it doesn't work when it should.

Possible Bug:

Items with product variants not showing the correct price on product lists.

The price of my item is $48, the variant price is $6. When browsing through a list of products, the $6 price is showing but when you click the product, the correct price of $48 shows up.

This line in the CHANGELOG concerns the Update inventory part but not the cart or checkout.

Its been mentioned before but how about making the descriptions better in the changelog more useful. at the moment its hard to see whats what

Bug 4.0.6 news management subscription

Most things work good, but when I tried to subscribe to the News with my email I get a 404 page that states

The requested URL /xcart/mail/error_message.php was not found on this server.

and it is correct, error_message.php was not found on the server, so.

Tried to see if it was in the tar ball.

I copied xcart/error_message.php to the mail directory, that was not so good just kept getting errors.

So where did xcart/mail/error_message.php go?

Bug 4.0.6 Gift Certificate

This one is very minor, probably easily fixable too.

When someone orders a gift certificate via postal mail, under the "Order Details" page on the admin side, it shows the address twice.

I think I am patched. My cart summary says 4.0.6 is it possible for it to say that even thought the files are not patched? I looked at idividual files that should have patched and it seems the ID section is not updated but the cart says I am running 4.0.6... ideas?

***BUG*** I noticed that "Send to Friend" doesn't work off of an .html catalog page (and what's worse is, it looks like it's working) , is there a workaround for this?

Can anyone get this to work? I still don't seem to get the product sku to show up in search. I have tried the standard search and the advanced, and the seach still does not recognize the sku and give me back a product.

OK, now this works. What would be the most amazing search mod is ... a search that could pick up product variants! I mean, they do have a unique SKU now, so why not? They could be picked up by variant or sku - anyone want to give it a try?

Oh, and m "send to a friend" doesn't work anymore - but there were some minor albeit necessary fixes with the variants code ...
