X-Cart v4.4.2 released

We are glad to announce that the new X-Cart v4.4.2 is now available for downloading in the "File area" section in your HelpDesk account at https://secure.qtmsoft.com.

NOTE: The distribution packages will be also available for downloading at http://www.x-cart.com/download.html in 1 business day.

v4.4.2 is a minor bug-fix release which also features improved stability, security and performance. For the detailed changes description see the CHANGELOG file included into the distribution package.

During the install, the skin previewer doesn't work either (I used IE8 with x-cart gold)

Serious bug somewhere... it appears to not be loading the CSS files.

Good, 4.4.2 is already here. Not a "minor" bug fix btw. I don't see anything about address book in the fixes so I guess you guys decided the address book is ok even though there are numerous complains and posts in the bug tracker to fix the way address book is designed and works. Why you don't listen to us?

Very funny installation! Is this a final version?

1) They changed the installation script. If the databases was not created, you should go and create it. If I remember starting with v4.2, if the database was not created, the script was able to create it for you. It is a shame we lost the ability to let the script to create the database for us.

2) Look in attachment how bad is looking the layout preview. This is the Frontend after installation is done. If you look into the source code from line 12 to 85 there is content missing. For sure we can scary the customers with such of layouts :mrgreen:

It is hard to realize v4.4.1 installer was OK and this one is not. Why you are making changes in files which were OK? With an XC5 gone with the wind and XC4 too stressed, What shall we say? Nothing for the moment O:)

QT please make the right changes to get a professional installation script!

Yes, I'm getting the same error, problem is related to speed-up tool for Javascript and CSS. That feature did not work properly even in the previous version. :?

Tried to install 4.4.2 pro, the skin previewer worked fine. Also, the skins work fine after the installation done.

Try to download the distribution kit from the File Area once again, make sure it is downloaded completely. Then try to re-install X-Cart from scratch.

If the problem still exists, please report it to http://bugtracker.qtmsoft.com, provide as more details about the problem as possible:

- what specific skin you selected during the installation.
- what settings you changed in the admin back-end after the installation is done.
- etc.

Ok so let me post this before I fotget. Installed 4.4.2 2 minutes ago. Installation went ok with the exception of the skin preview (as mentioned above by others) which did not presented as it should. I installed GOLD, I don't want to install PRO. And yes Sergey the screen where you select which skin to install shows just fine but the next one after skin installation is finished doesn't. The reason is Speedup Tools for JS and CSS are on by default and they are still buggy. They don't work at all. As far as I remember there was a patch posted for 4.4.1 so apparently that patch didn't find its way to 4.4.2 somehow. Yet again we have to start reporting bugs that were once reported and should have been fixed in this version. So should I be mad?

To fix the bug - login to admin after installation and turn off Speedup Tools from General Settings page. This thing is useless.

Navigating to Users page in admin still shows js error - Error: 'document.searchform.elements[...]' is null or not an object. This was also reported as a bug in 4.4.1

Please please please take out the "apply" button in OPC. I don't want customers to have to click anything after entering personal data so they can proceed with the checkout. This is ridiculous. This is not OPC

OnOPC switching payment methods still shows js error - Error: Can't move focus to the control because it is invisible, not enabled, or of a type that does not accept the focus. And this was also reported in 4.4.1 as a bug.

Yes no changes to the user info. There is still no way to add additional fields to address book.

Still no checkbox to accept T&C on register page. Personal Info title is showing even though no items are selected to be shown.

... and all this for just 10 min

Guys, did you all install 4.4.2 on a Windows-based machine?

I was able to replicate the problem with 4.4.2 installed on my Windows-based machine: skin did not load when browsing the cart with Opera 11 and FireFox 3.6.13 (however, when browsing with IE8 the skin worked fine for me).

When 4.4.2 is being installed on a Unix/Linux-based server, the skin preview is OK, as well as the skin loads fine after the installation is done, in all the browsers mentioned.

Our maintenance team is investigating the problem at the moment, we will update you as soon as proper results are achieved.

I can confirm the installation went fine. Time to see v4.4.2 in action.

Too bad you removed with this version the feature to create the database in case there wasn't one created.

I installed it on a Linux machine this morning and installation was fine ...

However, after installing ... I wanted to remove all the sample products/categories from the store which is doesn't complete ... I just get a message "Deleting category products:" and nothing after that ...
Anyone else having this issue?

Has anyone tried enabling the Fly-Out menu? When I enable the module in the admin, the categories on the customer side disappears.

No, Linux machine and using IE8 so it was a bug. I see in the next post you say it's fixed.

I still see system messages show at the top right corner. I though you guy will fix this to show in the middle of the screen with close button. It is almost invisible now.

Flyout works fine. But what I would like to see (also asked a million times) - do not show empty categories in the menu. Have a setting in admin to show them or not. Right now you have "deprecate" setting which doesn't help much.

I am wondering what we suggest is listening by QT? I am very disappointed with that small thing about creation of the DB at installation.

I agree you about position of messages. Now these messages appear just at the right top. No border, no transparency. Just ugly messages.

I suggested basic features - discussed many years in this forum. QT always said to place in their ideas website all I want. If there are votes, they will implement. I would like to ask thumbnails from variant images is not a basic feature? not showing a category if there are no products inside? And many, many other things I am seeing at competition. Like many others from here I am doing a favor spending time and finding ideas and solutions. There is no doubt why more and more are leaving this platform.

I offered my ideas for XC5, in ideas website, directly to QT. Their decision about "it will be no features added in v4.4" is completely wrong.

I do understand this Alex but see my posts above - bugs were reported in 4.4.1 and NOT fixed in 4.4.2. And these bugs were not reported at the last moment so....

With 530 threads in bugtracker I expected to see a long changelog. Plus I am pretty sure the engineers found more bugs than those reported by us. Maybe they have their own way. If bugs were reported, solved and not found in final release this is not OK.

So at this point there is no way to upgrade an existing store that is running and was just upgraded to 4.4.1..... to 4.4.2?

We just did a major upgrade from 4.1.10 to 4.4.1 and the shipping address/zip code issue is a big problem... we have hundreds of orders each day and this needs to be fixed ASAP.

Does anyone know if we can use a fresh install of all the 4.4.2 files and use our existing database from 4.4.1?

Or is there changes to the database that need to be done as well? which I assume is the case.

If not can anyone help us resolve the shipping issue alone? is there a patch or fix we can apply manually until the upgrade pack is done?

Also why wait a week to make the upgrade pack available? I'm sure there are other users out there shipping orders to the wrong location as we almost did?

Please any help would be appreciated.

I've now installed 4.4.2 on 3 different servers (all linux based) and still having this issue.

What i've noticed is that it doesnt start straight away. You can remove a category straight away after install. But as soon as you start to disable some of the modules (e.g. AOM, Survey etc) it then breaks ... :???:

Has anyone else noticed that the SEO settings for the home page only show the Company's name? In 4.4.1, the SEO on homepage was custom title, meta desc, and meta keywords.

Is it just me, or is it a bug?

Just to clarify, 4.4.2 does give you the custom meta desc and meta keywords, but the Title tag only displays the Company Name.
(and yes, I've added the .htaccess stuff, all of the other clean urls work without problem)

Thanks for your reply, I tested and the store comes up using the existing database, however the admin panel won't let me in.

I guess we will have to wait. :)

I can confirm the issue with title tag for home page. A lot of questions came in my mind. What happened between 4.4.1 and 4.4.2? Did we loose more features? Did QT take in consideration the bugtracker? It is a hilarious situation. For the moment I will continue with v4.4.1.

Looks like yet another release I'll have to wait to be fixed before I can consider moving from 4.1.x . A lot of great fixes that should have been done before 4.4 was released ... Perhaps 4.3 will be the time to upgrade away from 4.1 branch. Come on QT refine your process a little guys and get this right next time... too many small things keep bogging down your releases.

In this moment I am afraid to report more issues in bugtracker. Something went wrong in these 3 months we tested and reported bugs for v4.4.1. What a waste of time in this v4.4. When was it released? In June? I mean 7 months ago? Wow! I suggest QT to go back to initial release, and apply one by one all the fixes we and they found in all these months and give us a real v4.4.2 version. I don't like what I see now. An XC version 5 far away and a stuck version 4 with issues and no future. Did I say something wrong?
