Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
So if I use iPhone and go to demo.x-cart.com it will not auto switch to mobile version? So customers have to remember 2 urls for the same site depending where they access it from?
From mobile site: 1. Ask a question - after closing the "popup" the product page is reloading and moves to top of page - annoying 2. Related products tab on product details page - products thumbs do not line up - different height 3. Same of customer also bought tab 4. Cart page - estimate shipping cost - you have to open dialog first then you have to click again on estimate button to open the "popup" - 1 click should be enough - no reason to have to have this twice - I understand first one is just to show/hide shipping cost but still... 5. Cart page - after estimate shipping popup is closed page is reloading again - very annoying as at first it shows normally then reloads causing flicker effect Just some fast testing. But overall I like it |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
Looks good, is there any means of us being able to have a demo to test out on a development site?
|
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
Congratulations. I can imagine the effort that went into this module. My first impression is that it is the best mobile mod for XC that I have seen. Nice work.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
Very Nice!
Please think about tweaking the Checkout Button. You have the price showing in the button and on my iPhone I see the price and "Chec...". This will be confusing for some of our customers. Using http://www.mdemo.x-cart.com/ Desktop --> full size template iPad --> mobile template iPhone --> mobile template Initially the popup allows you to switch between the templates until you say dismiss. It would be nice to have a link to manually switch between templates in case you change your mind later. We've gone full circle in our thinking between a separate mobile template vs a responsive template. I like responsive templates and I'm currently converting 2 of our Wordpress sites to new responsive templates. For our store we're very happy x-cart went with a separate mobile template. Our site has a lot of CMS, and other features which work great on a desktop but for our mobile shoppers we want something that's quick and easy for them to navigate and make purchases. Great job and looking forward to purchasing soon! |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
We'd like to say thank you to X-Cart Community for the kind words and for the remarks and comments about the Mobile module.
They will be taken into account. Be sure. We prepared a long post for the X-Cart Mobile release. But at the last moment we've reconsidered it and created a short version which might seen in our blog. However I think this long post should take a place and here it is: Quote:

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
I just had the oportunity to install this module on a live site with real products. I have to say - the easiest to install (compare to other mobile mods) and it works right out of the box. Skin looks very nice and slick too. I don't like the "flicker" effect when there is a popup - page reloads - but still - great mod.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
It appears there is a problem - again - about http/httsp redirect and CSDEO. If CDSEO is installed and "redirect to http" option is active in admin the mobile mod throws an error when going from https page to http page....
The reason I mention CDSEO is because Jon has a fix for CDSEO and XC http/https redirect |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

I have the https->http redirect fix for CDSEO Pro for version 4.5.3 and later if anyone needs it. Send me a PM. |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
It seems the module has issues with http/https and switching between them....
|
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
The demo site mentioned above does not have https mode so hard to say of this is XC bug...

This time QT acted very fast - bug fix - https://bugtracker.qtmsoft.com/view.php?id=42360

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
Looks interesting and mobile is a route we've been contemplating for some time.
We make extensive use of Manufacturers as Artists for our CD store - how 'mod-able' is the code to be able to add Manufacturers names to pretty much every product? In fact generally how easy is it to get underneath the hood for tweaks and mods? |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
We have purchased this module but there doesn't seem to be a way to switch to the mobile version when viewing on a non-mobile platform for troubleshooting etc.
Anybody else figured out how to get the mobile rendering on a non-mobile platform for testing/development? |

1. open the Developer Tools (Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows/Linux, Command - Option - I on Mac OS X) 2. click the "settings" icon at the bottom right corner of the window 3. check "override user agent" and select one of the options (Internet Explorer 7/8/9, Firefox 4/7 for Windows/Mac, iPhone, iPad and Nexus S running Android 2.3). You can also select "other" and enter a custom user agent. The Safari browser has the built-in tool for that too. Run Safari, click on Edit -> Preference, then go to Advanced tab. Check the checkbox for Show Develop menu in menu bar option. Exit from the Preference dialog window, a new "Develop" menu will show in the menu bar. Click on Develop, and then select User Agent in the pull down menu Also there are a lot of addons for Mozilla Firefox for the changing User Agent. Here is the list: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?q=user+agent+switcher [^] And finally, there is another way to always show the mobile version. Open the modules/Xcart_Mobile/config.php and comment the following lines: from 101 to 107 (it's a condition for the mobile enabling) and 148th (the closing brace). |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
Thanks Konstantin!
Great reply. I had not used the user agent override on chrome web developer before. Thanks for the tip. Will come in useful. Rubyaryat |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
Hello, X-Carters!
This post is for everyone, who has experienced troubles with the language variables missing. We have fixed this issue. Please download the new version (1.0.4) of module from the HelpDesk File Area and replace the following files in your X-Cart with the updated ones: modules/Xcart_Mobile/config.phpOr you can just unzip the module package to your XC root and allow the files replacement; the SQL-patch is not needed. |

Have a look for this. It is the solution who wants to open new web store. |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
it looks nice. Seriously evaluating it for use on my site. One little issue with detailed images. Open "R/C Mini Cooper toy", click detailed images, then click on any of the two. Now, clicking back button in Safari browser on iPhone 4 (OS 6), shows grey screen. Same problem in regular browser on Mac computer.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
I just uploaded all of the files after purchasing it and went to the installation page and only the header is shown. It shows X-cart Mobile Installation and only a header that says "License Agreement". The agreement is not shown and you cannot continue at all. I am using X-cart 4.5.2

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
OK so my work-around for the installation script not working was to run the 3 SQL queries directly in the database and now it is working. I love the concept but I am having many issues and I haven't even placed a test order yet. My biggest problem is sometimes the images will load and sometimes they won't. Sometimes only a couple of the images will in the product list. If you hit refresh, all of the images dissappear. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
Besides the images I see the button to switch to the standard site on an ipad but not on an iphone or android phone. How was this launched if these simple things weren't discovered? I placed a test order and that works great but let me know if you have any ideas as to the images not loading as well. I loaded it in Firefox with an iphone user agent as well and I have the same issues with images not showing alot of the time.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
To be sure the switch view button is shown on a phone's browser including iPhones, I modified /Xcart_Mobile/customer/core.js
Change this: } if ((viewport.width >= 1000 || viewport.height >= 1000)) { $('.switch-mobile').css({ 'display': 'inline-block' }); To: } if ((viewport.width >= 50 || viewport.height >= 50)) { $('.switch-mobile').css({ 'display': 'inline-block' }); |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
Well X-cart Mobile was laucnhed and I have submitted tickets with no responses to the images not loading. Where is the support when a new product launches guys?
|
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
Alter this script: skin/common_files/modules/Xcart_Mobile/customer/core.js line 145, block:
Code:
/** and replace the code above with this code: Code:
/** This should fix the missing images issue. |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
I tried that and it did not fix the issue. If I hit refresh multiple times they will load but the images are cut in half. Also, detailed or additional images do not load. I am testing using a new iPhone 5 and and Android device. I have deleted my cache and went to the site again and the same thing happens.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
There seem to be an javascript error in your store. Please make sure you've applied the changes properly.
If problem persists, please contact our support team and supply FTP/SSH access details. |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
OK, I updated the script exactly as described above and the javascript error is no longer present. When you go to the mobile site now and click on our first category "Phones", page 1 items photos do not show. If you hit Page 2, it shows them, go back to page 1 and it doesn't show them either. To get page 1 images to show I must hit F5. This happends using my new iPad, Iphone 5 and several android devices. I thought maybe there were too many products trying to load but I decreased it and even if I have 1 item, same problem. Once this is corrected, I think it is an awesome application. There are a few minor things on the "More" section where some links do not load. Also, the terms and conditions link doesn't work on checkout. Thanks for your support!

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
Mhodge@q1w.net
I've just checked your site on iPhone, on SIII, on Nexus and on desktop in several browsers. Products list images appeared correctly. Seems that javascript is cached in you phone. Could you please check that? |
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
I cleared my cache again and I get the same thing when I use the iPhone 3 user agent in Firefox as well. Same as above images.
|
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
Same on a brand new android device I just pulled out of a box. I am in the wireless industry so I have almost every phone and browser available to me in my office.
|
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
I just tried on a brand new GS3 as well and get the same as the images above.
|
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
|
Re: X-Cart Mobile module released
It appears it is only happening on the first page of the first category. Click on "Phones" on the main menu.
