How do I change the Skin1
 

Hello,

I am very new to X Cart. I noticed that during the install of x cart there was several templates... or skins I guess there called that I can use.

I chose one of them but would now like to try a different one and see how it looks.

Where is the option to change skins?

I believe you have to run install again and choose reinstall skin files and then choose a new skin.

It would be nice if there were somewhere you could view those skins before choosing during setup.

Just choosing one blindly is prettyf frustrating.

So now I'm stuck with the one I "choose" or have to redo a complete install!

Well it's far from ideal of course, but a skin re-installation is not a "complete" install.

This would be a great link to put right on the setup wizard page where we need to choose a skin! 8)

For anyone interested, I found in X-cart Manual 4.2.1, in chapter 2, Installing X-Cart Manually 2.2.2, subsection 7, that you can change the skin this way:

This is crazy. You can never see examples during installation then you have to use a UNIX shell to change it after installation? AND if you go to the link for the demo once you've chosen the third example (tire company) you lose the drop down menu and even a refresh just keeps you at the tire company so you can't view any of the other examples.

Thank you for the suggestion, we will consider it.


It is not necessary to use unix shell to re-install the skin if X-Cart has the correct permissions set and the server has a secure configuration (with no need of world-wide writable '777' permissions).

So...what's the final verdict on changing skins? I'm running Pro 4.2.2. I'm so confused, thanks! :)

Well, I wish there was a theme switcher or something, since we ordered the installation service when we bought X-Cart, I have no idea how to reinstall it all, haha.
