Jon. We bought the CDSEO Pro module for X-cart 4.1.x platform. How do we go about getting it upgraded to the newest 4.4.x version? And what is the software upgrade cost? Thank you.

Jon 02-04-2011 09:50 AM

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

Upgrade can be purchased from http://www.websitecm.com/x-cart-mods/cdseo-pro-x-cart-seo-pro-upgrade.html

For anyone else considering moving to 4.4, moving CDSEO to 4.4.x when upgrading will allow you to keep your SEO information all intact so your page titles, meta tags, urls, etc. all remain the same to maintain current rankings.

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

Hello,

I just recently moved my xcart installation from a subdirectory to the root and everything seemed to be fine with just one exception that I've noticed so far, though I'm not sure if it is from the move or was always there.

The website isn't properly redirecting from https to http - for example, if I try to visit a page with https://www.mysite.com/my-category/ it goes to the 404 error page instead of redirecting to http://www.mysite.com/my-category/

I notice that it first goes to cdseopro.php before throwing the error, so that's why I have to wonder if this is where the problem might lie.

Any ideas which file I should be checking?

Thank you!

Chris

You may need to apply this fix which is needed on some servers:

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

Thank you, that fixed it.

However for 4.1.12 the line in include/sessions.php is this:

func_header_location($PHP_SELF.(empty($qs) ? "" : ("?".$qs)), true, 302, true);

Thanks again!

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

Just a quick question, is there a way to reinstall CDSEO Pro?

I'm getting some errors from a bad install I think and am attempting to reinstall but following the link in the instructions (http://www.example.com/path-to-x-cart/admin/cdseopro/index.php) already sees the software as installed and I'm unable to pull up the steps required.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

Hi Jon

I have purchased CDSEO Pro and quite happy with all functionalities. Congratulations. I find it very useful.

I just have 2 doubs:

1) I have a recently upgraded xcart 4.4.2 located at http://store.abc.com since 4 years. I have read your nice tutorials and you say www.abc.com is much better. My concern is to loose pages rank gained during years if I change to www.abc.com . What╢s your opinion?

2) I have a multilingual store.

2.1) How can I produce page titles in 3 languages in CDSEO Pro?
2.2) How can I introduce Meta-description in 3 languages in CDSEO Pro?

Thanks in advanced

Jon 02-18-2011 09:16 AM

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

1) While primary domain I find is usually better, using a primary domain or subdomain does depend on the given circumstances. Since you are established on the store subdomain I probably wouldn't recommend changing it at this point.

2) CDSEO only provides CDSEO information for the primary language (it does state this on the CDSEO details page).

X-Cart's never get indexed well for secondary languages because the urls are the same for each language.

Typically what I suggest for multi-lingual stores is to disable CDSEO by modifying cdseo_config.php to not include the outputfilter using an if ($store_language != 'XX') statement around the include of the outputfilter. This will allow CDSEO to function for the primary language and not modify secondary languages.

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

Sorry, I am not sure to fully understand.

1) Then, If CDSEO Pro only works for primary languages, could it be possible introduce meta-description and keywords in 3 languages in CDSEO Pro to force Google read in 3 languages, or it is just useless?

2) Should I understand when disable languages as you described, affects only to url or also to meta-descriptions?

3) Just an idea. For next x-cart / CDSEO Pro update, there could be a way that creates differents URL╢s for each language. It will turn it even more powerful tool.

that link is broken - it returns an error page

I have CDSEO Pro for 4.3. I created a dev site to upgrade to 4.4, which was successful (cloning database, upgrading version, etc). I can see the customer side, and I can access the admin login however once I log into the admin side I get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wcmcdseotype() in /home/xxx/public_html/dev/modules/cdseolinks/cdseo_pro.php on line 84

(note: xxx is my dev site - I removed the actual name)

I will purchase the upgrade to 4.4, but is there a way I can get around this error immediately so I can access my admin side to complete the upgrade to 4.4.2?

I've submitted a ticket with you Jon but I am posting on the forum as well in case there is another member that has encountered this error

Heather, make sure you backup your site before doing anything. I just put my site back to how it was before I installed CDSEO pro because something went wrong on the install. I'll give it another shot when my heart rate goes back down.

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

When upgrading from CDSEO Basic you need to be sure to uninstall CDSEO basic first. This instruction is provided to you when you are upgrading. This would include reverting any file changes, and also involve removing this code from .htaccess:

Code:

<Files candle>
SetHandler application/x-httpd-php
AcceptPathInfo On
</Files>

<Files candles>
SetHandler application/x-httpd-php
AcceptPathInfo On
</Files>

If you hire us for install we'll take care of all this for you and ensure it is done 100% accurate.

Not sure if its specific to my site or if other people have the same issue. I'm running 4.4 with cdseo pro.

The ajax standard x-cart functionality of rating products doesn't work with CDSEO Pro turned on. It does with the functionality turned off.

Anyone else have the same problem?

Hi Jon,

We purchased the Pro version recently and I am trying to install it on my localhost to see that it all works fine before I go near my live implementation.

Is it set to only work on my primary domain or can I actually run it on localhost also. If it doesn't work on a test version first it makes it very difficult to deploy without some element of risk of taking my site down.

Thanks,
FWM.

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

Typically this setting isn't needed. Some SEO people believe it can help SEO while I don't believe it does. I put it in CDSEO primarily for people who sometimes run sites from multiple domains but wanted all the links to consolidate to one domain.

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

Ive had cdseo pro running no problem for quite awhile. But i am trying to install a video site map and think the issue im having is because of the cdseo php redirect.
Is there a way to turn off the redirect of php pages for certain pages?

The directory im making is
http://www.dreamlandmagic.com/videositemap/
In the directory there is the page index.php. Which apparently runs a script to dynamically generate a list of all our videos. But when you go to the videositemap page above the browser gives a redirect error. "The page isn't redirecting properly"
And if you go to http://www.dreamlandmagic.com/videositemap/index.php
It will redirect to the home page. We do want the redirect to happen on our main index.php to our home page.
Any suggestions? Is it even because of the cdseopro settings?

Jon 07-21-2011 07:45 AM

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

CDSEO isn't likely the culprit as it doesn't have any affect on folders/files that exist. You can disable CDSEO temporarily in the CDSEO Admin->Settings section to be sure.

This likely has something to do with your .htaccess or any custom .htaccess code. Try removing your .htaccess entirely and see if the url loads, if it does, then you know it is the problem. You can then find the specific problem by putting your .htaccess back, commenting out everything in it by putting a # symbol at the front of the line, and then uncommenting (removing the #) each block until you find the block that prevents the script from working. Then you'll have to fix that block.

Alternatively, it could just be an issue with the script or the .htaccess of the script itself, or possibly a permissions issue on that folder/file.

Re: CDSEO Pro - Complete SEO Solution - Custom Urls, Page Titles, Meta Data, Link Anchors

I have just installed CDSEO and XCMS from websitecm which seems to work very well. One quick question that maybe someone may know ,,, some of my static pages i restrict in robots.txt. In cdseo pro there does not seem to be a way to stop individual static pages from being added to sitemap.xml hence in google webmaster it gives me sitemap errors for the static pages that are blocked by robots.txt. This maybe not be a big deal ,,, not sure if google penalises for this or not.

Any opinions? Maybe Jon can add the ability to restrict certain static pages

Was kind of worry because I just installed this mod. And I saw this right after I updated my forum sig.

I thought whoever attempted to exploit anything was "monitoring" the forum? If this is just 'general' attempt, then I would be more relieved...

You'd have to modify the query so that the cdseoTitle from the wcm_cdseo table is included in the $product variable. It would take some coding expertise.

Jon,

I've tried multiple times to contact WebsiteCM regarding a question by submitting a ticket (#AVK-841-59965) and have not gotten any response since last Friday.

I hope you can help.

I purchased and installed CDSEO Pro and would like to know how to create product & static page urls with the following structure:
home URL/category/subcategory/product description

For example:
http://www.trezora.com/glass-jewelry/glass-pendants/red-and-pink-heart-glass-pendant (this link does not work ... obviously :-))

Right now the only way I see to set up URLs is all from the homepage like http://www.trezora.com/red-and-pink-heart-glass-pendant

I want to know how to add the category and subcategory into the URL.

Thank you,

Mendy
