Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

I am looking to install this X-cart mobile module on 4.5.5 store since Google is really pushing for mobile friendly. Can anyone tell me if it would work with third part modules like AlteredCart CheckoutOne, AC smart search, AC Authorize DPM module, and BCSE CIM modules. I am assuming it has its own mobile friendly checkout page, but will it work with third party what about credit card payment modules? Also what about BCSE Mobile Mod? Which would work better with less problem?

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

This module does work with the built-in modules only. The checkout process is based on the default Fast Lane Checkout.

However, if you would like, all your 3rd party modules can be adapted for Mobile. Please, contact us via the HelpDesk regarding this issue. Our quote-specialists will estimate the works and say the cost.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

I know 4.5.5 One page checkout is buggy, which is why I end up using AC CheckoutONe in first place. I think built in Fast Lane Checkout might be ok to use. I am going to try it out first and see how it is.

Thank you.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

I just installed the module and I want to give some feedback.

It seems to be working fine with AC checkoutOne out of the box. Some fields in checkout page might need some modifications. For example, some radio buttons are too small and 3 digit CVV code field is not long enough to see all three digits as typed in. Other than that, checkout page works fine.

We not have "Awesome! This page is mobile-friendly." result on Google Mobile friendly test. Before it was "Not mobile-friendly".
But Google Pagespeed insights report for mobile only went up 64/100 to 65/100. We have 83/100 for desktop.

AC DPM modules and paypal work ok with AC checkoutONE on mobile. BCSE CIM module does not work. When CIM payment is selected, the "Add New Card" button does not bring up a credit card form from AuthorizeNet in popup as it does on desktop.

Mobile Skin does not use AC Smart Search, instead it uses X-cart built-in search which is fine with me.

I also took some browsershots (browsershots.org) to see if mobile skin gets incorrectly used for desktop browsers and I do not see any problem. So mobile browser detection seems to work ok across platforms. I am wondering as new browser versions are released, does the browser detection code for this module need updating?

That is just a bug fix release. I am talking about a version that is actually usable in anything other than an iPhone.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

I see there is a new version 1.5.1, is there a changelog on this release?

Also, if we're on 1.4.2, there is no direct upgrade to 1.5.1, is there a reason for this?

The 1.5.x version is available for the XC4.7.x only. This limitation is caused by Smarty 3.x compatibility.

This is disappointing. Waiting so long for a substantial update and now 4.7 is required. Smarty 3 compatibility (working with new version) is very different from a requirement (excluding previous versions). I hope you will reconsider this decision.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

Very disappointing as we have been waiting for a fix for variant images for a while now. There is no way we will ever be upgrading to 4.7.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

So we're having an odd issue with this module.

When you visit our site, it looks/works great, when you first click say "New Arrivals" collapsible button, it drops down and shows you the new arrivals (as it should).

But then, you click "Catalog" (or "Shop" as it is on our site) and then click the 'Back' button, to the home page, it shows duplicate content basically.

The

Code:

<div data-role="page" class="page-holder fancycat-page-skin-icons fancycat-page-subskin-e uo-container ui-page ui-body-c ui-page-active" data-dom-cache="false" data-add-back-btn="true" data-url="/" tabindex="0" style="min-height: 1227px;">

div is shown, but there are two of the same divs with "ui-page-active" in the class. Thus, showing duplicate content.

So if you click the new arrivals drop down again, it shows/uncollapses, but below it shows a div with the new arrivals drop down unclicked/collapsed.

See attached photo of end error. We're not sure what could be causing this..

We're on xc 4.5.5 with mobile mod version 1.4.3 installed.

I think the issue may be since we are using an older JQuery Mobile version. And the new 1.5.0 X-Cart Mobile mod comes with 1.4.5 JQuery mobile

EDIT/UPDATE:

So we found the code that is causing an issue for this. Still doing a little debugging, but in "/skin/common_files/modules/Xcart_Mobile/lib/jquery.mobile.js" around line 3044:

The code:
Code:

url = fileUrl = path.getFilePath( $( "<div>" + RegExp.$1 + "</div>" ).text() );

Is causing the error, (we commented it out for now). See below:

Code:

                                        if ( pageElemRegex.test( html ) &&
                                                        RegExp.$1 &&
                                                        dataUrlRegex.test( RegExp.$1 ) &&
                                                        RegExp.$1 ) {
                                                //url = fileUrl = path.getFilePath( $( "<div>" + RegExp.$1 + "</div>" ).text() );
                                        }

We do apologize for confusing with versioning of patches. You are right in general, here is the list of how exactly the patches are related to versions:

Latest versions for 4.4:
1.4.1
and
1.4.12 - this patch is only for the 4.4.x and includes all the latest bugfixes

* 1.4.2 is for 4.5.x - 4.6.x

1.4.2
1.4.3

Now I am officially confused about the mobile patches. The last mobile patch I installed in my V4.4.5 cart was the Mar 2015 release named x-cart-mobile-patch-1.4.1-1.4.2.

Now I see three new patches (released in June 2015) in my version's file area, as follows:
x-cart-mobile-patch-1.4.1-1.4.12
x-cart-mobile-patch-1.4.2-1.4.3
x-cart-mobile-patch-1.5.0-1.5.1

Since I am at 1.4.2 it appears I would installed the "1.4.2-1.4.3" patch. But shouldn't there be a patch that brings 1.4.2 (or 1.4.3) to the latest 1.4.12?

I appreciate the consolidated and complete version post. This will be very helpful. So helpful it would be even better if it were officially documented somewhere rather than hidden in a forum thread.

However, it is disappointing that 4.4 - 4.6 are no longer receiving significant updates. These customers were not expecting a first gen product with issues to be dropped so suddenly, especially when it was ignored for so long. Would be nice to get a few good versions out of this module. Moreover, with so much responsive support in 4.7 older versions of X-Cart would benefit the most from the newest version of this module.

Oh, no. It seems some misunderstanding took place. I apologize again for misleading info.

The 1.4.12 patch is for the 4.4.x because this version of X-Cart is quite different than the 4.5.x and above. But this patch contains all the fixes that are present in the latest patches for the 4.5 - 4.6. So it's not obsolete or something.

We have named this patch "1.4.12" because it contains bugfixes particular to the old versions of X-Cart and not relevant for 4.5 and higher.

You are still misunderstanding. 4.4 - 4.6 may receive future important patches but will they see 1.5 or anything else significant? Sadly, no. This product has been a big let down to the people I have recommended it.

They will. We are working on the new version of Mobile module v2.0 based on the different technology. It takes a time, but as we think it worth it. Every current version will get the update patch for this.

Are you sure that 1.4.2 is not also for 4.4? I found a 4.4 site that had been upgraded to 1.4.2 with this in the VERSION.XCART_MOBILE file:

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

Why does the version for 4.7 look nothing like the version for 4.6?

Where have all the large buttons gone at the top (like cart for example?)

I thought we were moving forward but the new design is going backwards.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

So has anyone experienced a large drop in sales with the mobile module? We run a 4.4.3 store and our orders dropped by over 50% when we installed the mobile module. We did weeks of testing and tweaking to ensure the module was good. Seems the navigation and the lack of OPC on the module contributed to this. The cart abandonment rate went through the roof when we launched mobile. Same with bounce rate. Went from 45% to 86% when we turned on the mobile version. ?????? Any thoughts on this?

kevinrm 09-11-2015 12:50 AM

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

I experience a huge increase in sales with the mobile module for XC 4.x, and a huge decrease in sales with the XC5 version, mainly because it doesn't work right.

soldatov 09-12-2015 05:16 AM

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

Hi Kevin,

Do you have any statistics on the Mobile Version bounce rate of your site? This would help us to analyze what is wrong with the module and conversion.
Also, can you say what doesn't work right exactly?

This would be great if you contact me personally on this. Thank you.

The checkout button isn't working for me on 4.7.3 using chrome/android. It does work with adblock browser.

I've got paypal enabled as an option and I somehow managed at one point to get a popup with the 2 checkout options to come up and then i could proceed to checkout. But on default page load the green checkout button doesn't work.

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

Like Freakmode asked, where are the icons gone?

They've been replaced with this hamburger icon in the top left. It could be a bad idea to use this instead of the nice icons across the top as in the previous design. I've heard stats that the hamburger menu leads to a big decline in site usage. Maybe graphic artists think it's cool and elegant and saves space, but results are what matters. Can we please have the option to use the icons instead??

This needs A/B testing to really decide what is better.

We rely on this module for over 50% of our sales and the 4.6 and previous version has been fantastic. We are about to upgrade to 4.7 but have had to stall due to the new layout of this module.

Guys this is a step backwards. Bring back the big buttons/icons and don't expect the customer for hunt around for a checkout button.

We have tried to go fully responsive design twice now and twice had to turn it off as business was through the floor instantly. So despite what Google tells you not all customers think responsive design is the way forward and that includes us.

kevinrm 09-12-2015 06:36 PM

Re: X-Cart Mobile module released

I have the mobile module (version 5.2.13) installed on XC 5.2.6 but the customers can't even login. Tried this with an iPhone 5s and also iPad 2.

Navigate to domain.com, mobile version does show up, looks good.

Click the "…MORE" button

Click the "Sign in" button - blank screen loads. Never able to log in. Refresh and it takes you back to home page, try again, but simply cannot log in.

Some of my customers only use a mobile device. So I have it disabled for the time being because I already have about 6 tickets for other problems going on at the moment, and the site is somewhat mobile friendly as is.

Note: I just put in a ticket for this.

This was not announced.

We have turned back the original design in this version. Fact is that the A-B testing showed us that the new design which was released within the v2.0 doesn't do the conversion and our customers are not satisfied with this. So we decided to turn back the original design.

The 1.5.2 version contains the original Mobile module design and all the new bugfixes which were presented in the v2.0.
So if you like the new design, this is not necessary to upgrade. Either if you like the original design, you can do the upgrade.

In future all the new releases will be with the original design, in other case we will do the announce.

Module works fine but styles need to be fixed. The price overlaps on the description on ipads and other tablets. Seems to only be a problem in portrait mode.
correction, it also makes a mess in landscape mode on phones. So that products.tpl file needs to be reworked somehow to allow for both orientations on all devices. I created a ticket for it.
