Is a way to make the Ability skin have a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the page at all times? Just about every website has that ability except the Ability template.

I recently bought a copy of this template and it's working out fine. I don't need many of the features but it was worth it to me just for the basic layout and snow effect. Just hacking my way through some of the CSS at the moment

I don't think lightbox is working on my site and as I'm not very familiar with the features I don't know what else isn't working properly. The image gallery certainly doesn't and I'm pretty sure this will use lightbox -any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this ?
Update: Lightbox now working after server company upgraded the PHP from 4 to 5- Thanks to Phil for pinpointing the problem |

Six Weeks with no answer to my support ticket questions, I guess I'll post them here: :?
1) I'm stuck figuring out where I should place the proper edits into Ability with another add-on. This is BCSE's "Advanced Product Ratings & Reviews" add-on. I've attached the installation instructions. The below install steps are all in skin/common_files locations. Steps #5, 6A, 8a, 10 (There is an attachment on the ticket) 2) Covered Compare Button: I've attached a screenshot image that shows the "compare" button covered by the lower product tabs. Can this be relocated up, or do you have a better suggestion for its location and how to get it there? The line in question: <input class="image-button" type="image" alt="Product comparison" src="/skin/common_files/images/spacer.gif"> I cannot figure out what page/template it is in. NOTE: I found something out on accident regarding the covered "compare" button issue. If I uncheck "Display product description in first tab/accordion item" in the Ability options, then the button can be seen. But, why are the comparison class items then populating within the product details? Shouldn't these be in a new tab or popup? It makes the product details extremely long down the page. Am I missing something in the options/settings? 3) I will be making modification's to the install of Bill's OnSale mod as well - as soon as I get a chance. It would be great if you posted the changes required to use various popular mods with Ability in FAQs for the template. The general "anything in common_files is overwritten" is too vague. |

(it just means the module will work for the standard xcart skins too) and make sure you do backups. You have nothing to lose, it's just lazyness! I have around 10 modules or more on my site and it's easy to figure out how to install them, abilitys file structure is excellent. Personally since it's Phils template I would just buy an hour of Phils time. I'm sure he'll be able to install the modules that you need installed, it's not a lot of money and it's great peace of mind that your site will function correctly. :D |

We are using the 1 column product layout with custom tabs below. The testimonials scroll perfectly on every page expect product details.
Would also like to adjust the sub cat image size, but cant work it out :D Anyone with any suggestions would be welcomed. Phil opened a ticket couple or 3 weeks ago for the updated template files. If you get a mo can you mail them across pls. |

Eventually managed to get the new site with the ability theme live. Yeah!! http://www.robertsonpackaging.com Anyways got a couple of probably really simple quaestions for you but I cant seem to figure them out. 1 - I noticed lots of updates on the ability page of xcartmods site but can't figure out how I go about updating to the latest version of the theme. I'm sure i'm missing something very simple. 2 - How do I edit the below IE6 browser warning page? I want to remove the Xcart Gold bit and replace it with our company logo and some text explaining why they shouldn't be using ie6. You can ignore number 2 as I have found the upgrade.html file in the root of the server. :D |

David, I'll send you the lastest files also. Unfortunately there's no patching facility to upgrade to a later version of Ability. I don't have access to a .DIFF patching system, if someone can suggest one, I might start offering patches. You can use a file comparison tool to help out, like this or this - downloading your existing skin/ability folder and comparing it with the new one. I am not planning any major updates to the template for the near future, there will most likely be only minor updates. |

Getting towards final testing & very pleased with the Ability template. I found one issue earlier this week which I have reported as a bug (? maybe) but just thought I would see if anyone else has checked this. We use Variants a lot in our store, so we have the x-cart option ticked so that if anyone clicks on Buy Now for a product with options in a product list they get sent to the product page so they can choose the right set of options. I've found that with Ability using any of the display options for Best Buys or Featured Products on the Home page you do not get this action when you click on "buy now". What happens is it adds the product to your cart with the default options/variants selected. My plan is to edit these lists to take out the "buy now" button but wondered if anyone else had noticed this and come up with a better solution. This does not happen on the other product lists (e.g. browsing a category, or search results). |

Hi Guys,
Can anyone give me some tips on cleaning up the detailed images part of the products page? As you can see from the attached image there is a large gap below the main image and where is says view detailed images. http://www.1guyseo.com/images/detailed_image_cleanup.png What template would i need to edit to remove the view detailed images text altogether? I have noticed that if i switch from jquery colourbox to internal when I hover over the small images it changes the top image which is really nice but I like the look of lightbox. is there any way of combining both these effects? In the mean time I have it set as cloud zoom as it gives the best of both worlds even if its not as pretty as lightbox. |

I have tried to change the thumbnail size but it just overlaps the text to the right of the image and doesn't push it over

Here is a fix for the vertical 2 level sliding menu. Just replace...
skin/ability/custom/addons/menus/vert/sliding.tpl With the attached. It enables you to mix 'categories with subcategories' and 'single categories', without breaking the menu. Previously each category required at least one subcategory. |

Tried it and no change. If I tick "Vertical sliding menu - disable parent category links" the plus/minus signs appear and everything works fine -"one category only open at once" works fine. hide controls takes out the "Show All Hide All" option at the bottom but the plus and minus stuff is still there. I'd like to have direct access to parent cats if possible otherwise I have to go to a subcat and nav back using breadcrumbs to the parent cat I can use the Xcart menu but it slides over my static header bar whereas your menus slide under-got any pointers on fixing that ? |

Hi Guys,
I am trying to customise the ability theme a little but my css skills arent great. I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some pointers. Here is what I am trying to do; 1 - I am trying to centre the sub categories boxes on every page. see here so that they are aligned in the middle but i'm not having much luck. I tried adding <center> before the span tag in subcategories_t.tpl but this didnt work. I'm sure its easy when you know how but i dont ;) 2 - I would like to add the product code below every product price in the product list. I managed to get it to work on the tabs on the front page using this code "Product Code : <p><b> {$product.productcode}</b></p>" but not on any of the other standard product lists. Not really sure where the code should go to be honest. I tried using firebug to find what I was looking for but didnt have much luck Any tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance from a CSS noob :) |

Another wee problem Phil, sorry to be a pain. since upgrading the site to the latest version of your theme my testimonials down the bottom has stopped working. It is showing all the testimonials in a list instead of rotating them.
Also I used to have my custom speed bar run along the top of the welcome page, the include is still there and so is the file but it isnt showing. I am having some internet issues at the moment so wasn't sure if that was the problem but it isnt showing on my phone either so guess its an issue with the upgrade. I knew this went too easy lol. I'm sure its a problem with the settings or combination of settings as it seemed to work fine this morning but after trying lots of combinations of settings to get the best look it doesnt work now. EDIT: I changed the testimonials file back to the original one and that works fine now but the speed bar still doesnt work. I have also noticed that the prices arent showing on the homepage under new products and random products. I have checked the original file and the new one and that hasnt changed. Is there maybe something in the settings that have changed that may be causing this to not show the prices |

Strangely some prices seem to show on the tabs but not others. is anyone else having this issue?

This only happened after upgrading so there must be a file somewhere that has changed that's caused this. Any help would be greatly appreciated guys. EDIT: OK this is driving me mad this morning. So I ran the uninstall patch and then the install patch again incase this was a DB issue, surprisingly it didnt fix it. It fixed the issue with the speed bar not showing which is good but the testimonial box stopped showing again and the grid and row switch stopped working and wouldn't show grid at all even when it was set as default. I found out if I disabled "Enable sticky menu/speedbar in the header" which was ticked as standard that it fixed the issues. I'm guessing this is some kind of bug. To be honest i'm not actually sure what that option does any way as it doesn't have a tool tip next to it. I still can't get it to remove the grid and row toggle button without it sticking on row but I can put up with that. Hopefully this will help anyone else having similar issues |

Twitter in the footer was showing unsecured content on my ssl pages so I changed to use the footer_contact if the page is ssl. Please have a look and let me know if there's a better way. Sorry... I did an incomplete copy and paste. I had the complete code. I found where I was going wrong which after a nights sleep I said "DUH" :-) The URL already had ?code=5267 on the end of the URL so I had to add a & before the lightbox code. So Quote:
