If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this X-Cart modification is for you.

This image Mod will allow you to upload one large image for the product thumbnail just as you normally would and it will dynamically generate new images as necessary. New images are dynamically created for the Product page, the Thumbs for the product listing pages, thumbnails for the shopping cart and also a popup for a detail - all from the one large image. These images are then stored in their own directory on the server to be used the next time they are needed.

It will also do the same with Detail images, creating small thumbnails for each detail images and a popup from them. All the dimensions for each are also configurable from within Admin.

This effectively eliminates the "jaggy" thumbnails that are always present on the product listing page. Since new images are automatically created to the size that you specify, you will benefit from better looking images giving a more professional looking site and your category pages will load extremely faster because you will not have to load the large thumbnail images.

This will handle JPG, GIF and PNG images and also applies an unsharp mask to the thumbnails that it generates so that they are not blurry.

This makes image management much easier and you do not have to worry about resizing in an application such as Photoshop. You would also not have to worry about creating and uploading multiple images.

This is a sensational mod and was purchased for one of the websites I did.

However I'd really like to get this going on another website running 4.1.7 and am unable to purchase off the telafirma site. If there are any other modes just like this one (that reduces the need for heaps of photoshopping) then I'd really appreciate some feedback.

This is very similar to the Telafirma mod and I have this working with 4.1.6.... and best of all, its FREE!

X-Cart Dynamic Image Generator (4.1.x)

OK, just got the 4.1.x version of TelaFirmas' dynamic image mod. All installed and ready to go with my 4.1.8 install. It's pretty sophisticated and certainly worth it's weight.

The overall functions are impressive and there is a lot of control over image size and location (product pages, cart, detailed, etc.). I've already reloaded all of a sites images with the import area by simply using the same link to my image depot (calling larger versions of images) and the mod, completely resized and scalled all of the assigned areas as instructed by me in the admin. Too Easy!

You can even set image quality so I tried the default 80 and then 100 on my second try and the ability to manipulate quality is excellent. I would certainly recommend any and all users of X-Cart who have Graphics Library 'gd' installed on their server to give this mod a go. Price-wise, it's a bargain and would certainly be worth much more (Check with TeleFirma for pricing and purchasing options).

Great work Stephen - my only suggestion is that the Lightbox have a 'XClose' button. I haven't worked with detailed images yet as my current working site doesn't have anything other than thumbs and product images. I'll try the product options use shortly as well and add what additional insight I can.

I'm sure this thread will be set in motion quickly.

No doubts great mod must have for any store, yes also the unique support from Stephen(THANKS) I am using the old version in my 4.0 worked great.Just bought the new version for my 4.1.8.

The only problem I am having is in product.tpl. when add product options (price Modifier) the price doesn't update and getting java error in page, and in cart when click on continue shopping button the thumbnail doesn't show but only error message Also asked Stephen but I thought if some one help me here as Stephen must be helping many other xcarters.

Lionel - I would suggest going to their web site and contacting Stephan again. I contacted him about a month ago and low and behold he responded quickly, efficiently and helped us get this new version for 4.1.x up and running. I found him to be very responsive.

I would ask X-Cart about this as they managed to implement Cerdmanns Thumb plugin, (http://www.cerdmann.com/thumb/ which this is based upon) to function the same as Telafirma's mod. Also, I think there was an issue as to whether Telafirma could encrypt someone elses plugin.

Mike, I am actually currently looking for another alternative to Lightbox. I added that in because of all the requests for it but there are some things that are not quite right with Lightbox.

For one, the code is very bloated. Way more code than is necessary for what it does. Second, the Prototype scripts that the use for the AJAX popups has a conflict with the Wholesale Pricing scripts in X-Cart. When you have product variants and you add wholesale pricing (quantity pricing) to the variants, it is dynamically updated on the page using AJAX depending on what option or variant you choose in the dropdowns. The script that does this conflicts with the Prototype script and causes all kinds of mess on the page.

I have been looking at a few alternatives but I am very open to anyone suggestion...

Does the mod resize images for the category pages as well? Is there any image in the cart itself that will not be resized?
