4.4.0 Patches and upgrades
 

I'm a little confused about the patches (in the issue tracker) and the 4.4.1 upgrade that is coming.

I had an obsure bug in the one-page checkout (surprise). I was going to report it in the issue tracker but checked first. Found it had been reported AND a patch was available.

Only thing is, the patch was dated August 24 --- BEFORE the release of 4.4.0.

That being the case, I wonder if there are other patches in the issue tracker for some of the known bugs?

Is there an accessible repository of the patches for known bug fixes?

Will these patches be included in 4.4.1?

There is no repository of the patches for known bug fixes at all. Something like this is way overdue. Everytime anyone needs a patch they have to post a message in the forum or ask QT for it.
All 4.4.0 bug fixes will be included in 4.4.1 and the 4.4.0->4.4.1 upgrade

Well tomorrow 4.4.1 should be released. I hope they release it as planned.

I would prefer if they delay it another week but get the bugs fixed. 4.4.0 has a lot of them

I would think the Xcart team already knows how to balance out the development time it takes to do bugs-fix & patches between each incremental version update. It does not make sense to release new update so often and having to release more version updates immediately after. But at the same time, no one wants to wait several months for an update either. They want those reported bugs corrected as quickly as possible.

With any software, there will never be a bug-free release! Anyone thinking they can wait for a bug-free release, go ahead and keep on waiting.....It is definitely wishful thinking!

You have to patch-up whatever bug-fixes which were reported up until one point. Then release the new update with those patches incorporated so the user community can have at it. If there are additional bugs are found, the user community will report back and the entire cycle can repeat all over again.

A little more communication would be helpful as well.At least give everyone a status update on the progress and whether or not the updates will be released on the planned dates. If you can't make the release date, fine, we all understand how things come up that derail even the best laid out plans, but just let us know.
With every release and release date, we have post after post wondering if the update will be available. It would also help the people that plan on doing the updates to plan ahead for a time to do the project.

I believe their work day ends around 3 am our time. We will have to wait until tomorrow tn see if they release it.

I have a contractor chomping at the bit to install 4.4 for me to kick-start our upgrade from 4.1.10, but I told him to wait until 4.4.1 is released on Saturday.

Can someone please lend an update about the release of 4.4.1, or should we just go ahead and install 4.4.0 so we can get started with the manual csv database import and css development?

And then simply apply the patch later?

I'm certainly not an x-cart guru, but from what I've been reading around here it seems like it's a real pain to upgrade and patch a store, so since 4.4.1 should be out here really soon I'd say wait if you can! I'm pretty bummed it didn't come out on Saturday, too.

4.4 has a problem with the clicking on terms and conditions and privacy policy, when clicking on it uses javascript to open the page and just sits there saying please wait!!! this was left for 20 minutes and still nothing...customers will not wait more then 10 seconds let alone 20 minutes just to read this....its not my site as if you view x-cart demo it does the exact same thing, even tried on 4 other computers and still same problem. So appears there is a big problem here.......emailed Qualiteam but as yet still no reply from them on the matter.....

well they finally change the road map to say October 1st for the release of 4.4.1.

This issue is a bug and QT says it's fixed in 4.4.1

only just put 4.4 on the server, i presume the database can be imported simply to the 4.4.1 release! will have to mod all the tpl and css files again, really should be a simpler way to upgrade to new versions.....

I see 4.4.1 has been released. However, where do I find the files to upgrade? I only see the files for a fresh install. It's my first time upgrading a store, so I'm not sure where I'm supposed to find the proper files. Thanks!

Subscriptions module? No, it wasn't added back. We removed it because it wasn't compatible with PCI-DSS
