Does anyone know if it is possible to run a backup copy of x-cart in another directory with CDSEO?
We have a backup copy in another directory running a copied database. We use it to test mods and changes before we do it on teh live database. When we try to url to the backup x-cart it seems cdseo redirects or browser issues a loop error.

No its not possible to purchase an open source version but most of the customer side files are unencrypted.

Jon, tried that .htaccess change above by adding subdirectory. Tried every combination, makes no difference.

I just like to add here for reference that the problem I had in the sub-directory x-cart was wrong permissions set on some directories. Jon at CDSEO help fix the problem, sorry Jon for the hassle. You provide awesome service. And CDSEO is worth every cent - excellent program.
Anyone thinking about buying this software should, the ROI will be ten fold within 6 months.

Hi,

I have just had CDSEO Installed but can not see where I can add Meta Description and Meta Keywords to my Store Homepage...
Can anyone please tell me how I can do this with CDSEO or if this can not be done with the module then what page I add the code to?

Home page uses the default data (only subsequent pages should really be customized) so set the data in your x-cart admin under General Settings -> SEO Options.

Home page title can be modified in the cdseo admin settings section.

I think I have old HTML catalogue files in my system from before I installed CDSEO - should I delete these as they may be now seen by search engines as duplicate info? If so could you let me know where I would find them and what the files is called?

Also, I just installed the Customer Rewards bundle and do not understand the fields in the Refer a Friend module add-on. I can not see the documentation for it on the BSE website...

It is the top box 'Rate' field that is confusing. Can you, or anyone else!, help with this one too?

I just installed it and I cant get into the "modules" area. I get this:

This demo version is protected by ionCube PHP Encoder. System failed to install appropriate ionCube PHP Loader for your system.

Possible reasons:
1. You are using MS Windows and X-Cart and PHP are located on different logical drives (eg. PHP is installed on disk C: and X-Cart on disk D:). To resolve this, move X-Cart to the same disk as PHP or put all loader files from the xcart/ioncube directory to the directory defined in the variable extension_dir in php.ini file (c:\php4\extensions\ by default). Also, you can visit the ionCube PHP Loader homepage, download the valid loaders for your system and install them following the instructions, provided by README file in loaders archive.
2. Unsupported version of PHP (currently versions 4.0.6 - 5.x.x are supported)
3. Dynamic loading is disabled at your system (eg. safe mode is on, or enable_dl

Does anyone have any experience migrating from XC_SEO to CDSEO?

We've been running XC_SEO for about a year so we've been indexed by google with html pages generated by XC_SEO... I don't want to lose pagerank in migration to CDSEO so I need to write redirects from XC_SEO's pages to CDSEO's pages. (correct?)

Has anybody had any experience with this? Thanks.

Sorry for the delay guys. I was travelling and checking on the support desk but not the forums.

Sambo: Yes they should be deleted. These are usually kept in a 'catalog' folder which can simply be renamed to '_catalog'. If you generated the pages in root, you will need to manually delete using an FTP program. The pages will all have .html extensions, and by default x-cart only has 2 files with .html extensions: shop_closed.html and index.html The 'Rate' field in customer rewards points if the rate they get when a person makes a referral. Lets say the person refers somebody who spends $100. If you set a rate of 5%, then the referrer will get 5 points.

pfarcus: CDSEO does not use ioncube. It looks like you are using a demo version of x-cart or were using a demo version of x-cart which wasn't properly upgraded to the full version.

bosell: We've migrated many users from xcseo to cdseo. If you select Install + XCSEO removal when adding CDSEO to cart, we will migrate your current urls (and if running xcseo pro your page titles, meta tags etc.) and remove xcseo. After install you will maintain the same urls and seo data so you won't lose page rank, seo rank, or have broken links.

index.html can be deleted from the catalog folder also. It is part of standard x-cart in the root but can be deleted also when cdseo is used.

Should I add meta keywords to each category listing the name of every product in that category? (could be 1000's) Or is the keywords on the product pages enough?

Focus your efforts on creating good meta descriptions since the Major SE's don't give any value to meta keywords anymore. If you really want to have meta keywords then CDSEO Pro can generate them for you automatically.

If I have Product Meta Tags and DSEFU PRO already installed will this replace both mods? Also is this mod W3C compliant, almost all the mods I have purchased I have had to edit to get to pass.

CDSEO replaces both mods yes. Product Meta Tags are imported upon CDSEO installation so you don't lose current customizations. DSEFU urls can be 301 redirected (https://www.websitecm.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticl eid=67) to preserver current search engine rank.

CDSEO is W3C complaint for valid xhtml.

CDSEO wouldn't modify telafirma's image mod or related products functionality in any way other than to change the url once the items were displayed.

Quick question about the site map generator:
I have a wordpress blog installed in root/blog/. Will the generator include the static pages from the blog folder or do I have to add a URL into the interface to point to the folder?

The CDSEO Generator allows you to manually specificy urls that are not the index, a category, product, static page or manufacturer page. You would want to specify your blog url in this section.

Hi Jon

The support team sent me a new bundle of files to correct a small problem. Once I copied all of the files over I have 500 Internal Server Errors on every static URL including the CDSEOPRO control panel.
They haven't got back to me yet and my site is down, any ideas?
