OK...
So I purchased and installed this mod and thought everything was good, until I tried to add a new product. Now I get this error, only in the catagory where the new product was added.
Quote:

Fatal error: Smarty error: thumb: parameter 'file' cannot be empty and must exist in /home/athlete/public_html/Smarty-2.6.9/Smarty.class.php on line 1088
I think that my problem is that I also have DSEFU mod and the instructions where a little vague when installing along with this and apparently they modify some of the same tpl files.
I can't see the "new" product in the store, however I can see it in the admin panel.
I did email TelaFirma, just wondering if anyone has any ideas in the meantime?

mustang 02-03-2006 01:13 PM

I just purchased this mod last night and installed it on an xc 4.0.16 site that already had the DSEFU mod. All is working perfectly fine. Just tested adding new products without any issue.

So far, the mod is very cool. I installed it, uploaded images for about a dozen products (each with extra detailed images), and played around with the configurations...all in <2 hours. It's going to save me a lot of time in the future. :)

Thanks Telafirma! 8)

Anyone spoken with the Stephen recently? He hasn't responded to any of emails in the last weeks.

So it's obviously me...

Mustang~ Did you notice any discrepancies in the instructions compared to what you actually had?

In steps 6 thru 10, it says comment out "x" and replace with "y". In some of those steps there are more than one occurence of "x" in the file. Be sure to replace all instances of "x" with "y".

How are you commenting out those lines? You may want to just backup those original files, and use copies of the originals to work with....then you can just delete those lines and replace them. Take it step by step and it should work in the end.

Telafirma does offer installation services on the mod for a small fee.

Update:

Stephan found a "bug" in the x-cart software when using his mod. It has to do with the way the script handles the conversion of storing images in the database to converting them to the "file system" image storage. Hopefully he will be along to explain things far better then me, but he's on the case and already has a resolution to the problem!

GREAT customer service is a thing of beauty!

electronics4less 02-06-2006 06:42 PM

Seems like he is ignoring me.. anyone solve the black background issue on some of the images?

ranger82nd 02-07-2006 09:27 AM

Not trying to defend, but...

I get the feeling he has been really busy. I also believe that he is working on a few "issues" in a revision to the script. Maybe your "issue" will be taken care of in the re-work, give him a little time to complete it. I know he's using my site to test a few things out.

Of couse, I could be totally off base and he's just ignoring you.

Lucent88 02-07-2006 10:42 AM

does anyone know what this error means?

I cant seem to get a hold of Stephen.

I get the following message in the pop-up when I click on the detail image thumbnail.

I did receive an email a few days ago. I assume he is working on the work.

Lucent88 02-10-2006 02:59 PM

problem solved. This is a great mod, very recommeded!!

ranger82nd 02-10-2006 03:16 PM

Now that it looks like Stephan had some time to respond to others, I am also happy to report....

ALL IS GOOD!

Thanks Stephan, my images never looked so good with such little effort.

ortonceramic 02-15-2006 08:14 AM

I like the concept here.

My site is designed for industrial products, and I won't need this feature for more than 5 or 6 products. Actually, I don't even need the full functionality that this mod provides, I just need 1 image to be clickable, and open up in a new window with a bigger version.

Is it possible to purchase a "portion" of the script? Should I contact telafirma for a custom solution?

Thanks!

balinor 02-15-2006 08:28 AM

In that case, just use this mod:

fdserve 02-17-2006 04:08 AM

Just bought this mod. By following the comprehensive instructions provided, I got this mod working and tested first time without errors in under 20 minutes.

Thank you Stephen for answering my questions so promptly . . . I'll definately be back for more lics for other websites in the very near future.

Just awesome!

Gavin

I still can't use this mod...

I bought this a long time ago, but I still can't use it turns most of my backgrounds black on me. Is this fixed yet?

Thanks

fdserve 02-17-2006 05:18 AM

Backgrounds where? When you pop open the detailed thumbnail image or when you pop open the large images you've added for the product?

Everywhere.

Images that show up perfectly with nice clear backgrounds on my unmodified cart, go through the image routines used by this mod and have their backgrounds set to black. The normal ones, the detail ones, the popups - everything.

Makes everything look instantly putrid. :) Too bad, because the mod looks great otherwise.

This was mentioned far earlier in this thread. I know TeleFirma was going to look into it, but I never saw if there was resolution to it.

I did just see someone else mentioned a "Black background" problem a page back, though -- so maybe they have the same issue. I save all my images with Photoshop's "Save to Web" function, if it matters.

gannawdm 02-17-2006 09:20 AM

Has anybody here installed this mod and then upgraded to the latest version (4.1)? If so, did the mod survive the upgrade? Or did you have to re-install it?

My guess is it will break. As long as X-Cart doesn't consider the current BETA/RC 4.1.x STABLE, I wouldn't consider any mods for it until you know for a fact that it is compatible.

yoshitoshi 02-18-2006 06:49 AM

I need to run this mod in a localhost environment. anybody have any suggestions since this mod only works on the licensed url? I've trying to email scouch but my emails keep coming back.

fdserve 02-18-2006 06:55 AM

I requested this too just 24 hours ago. Stephen said he'd supply it as soon as he could get round to it. It is the weekend too :)

yoshitoshi 02-18-2006 07:51 AM

awesome, let me know when you get yours. I assume all he needs to do is add the localhost ip to the encoded files. I have to fly into vegas tomorrow and this is the last thing from preventing my site to work correctly :)

fdserve 02-18-2006 07:57 AM

Sure . . . the moment I get it I'll let you know (if Stephen doesn't before!)

B00MER 02-18-2006 09:00 AM

Just wanted to note that you can easily get around the domain restriction on a localhost dev copy without having "localhost" encoded with the mod.

Simply use a HOST file ( XP/2k: C:\%WINDOWS%\system32\drivers\etc\HOST ) and you can easily reroute any domain to 127.0.0.1

Google link:

yoshitoshi 02-18-2006 09:10 AM

i'm going to try that out. little rusty with terminal but the it should work the same way as on a pc. Thanks for the tip.

update: spoke too soon

fdserve 02-18-2006 09:17 AM

Just received my localhost dist from Stephen

Thanks too to Boomer for the tip!

yoshitoshi 02-18-2006 10:28 AM

still havent gotten that file from Steve yet, the HOSTS workaround works except now I'm having issues with images to show

http://www.pooltradeshop.com/example1.gif

the alt tags show up where they should, but not the pictures. I tried right clicking and "view image" and get this message:

"The image Б─°http://www.pooltradeshop.com/xcart/image.php?productid=16137Б─² cannot be displayed, because it contains errors."

I even fixed the "images locations" in the admin panel to exactly where they are locally on my computer. Also I've uploaded the images again and tried the exact url where they are stored with no problems. Any ideas? Everything works just like the site except that.

Update: Wasn't the gd support, that's enabled. wierdest thing. Its supposed to generate a chache for the image but doesn't locally. Going to try to reload all images manually.

Tried manually, it worked. Guess I have my solution so i can finally get some sleep for a bit

NightFire 02-19-2006 12:49 AM

Just installed the mod on my localhost. Have to configure still some things out. But got a qeustion about it. The images are stored in the file system in the folder files/cashe. But what if you will move your shop directory to a other location like the root, will the images still work?
And what if you export your products from your localhost and try to import those into your online shop on your real server. Will that also work?

Edit:
Found another thing. If you delete a image of your product. Its still remains in your cache folder. This would take a lot of space if you deleted a lot of images. Is there a way to modify the script so that the images that are associated also will be deleted, would spare some space...

yoshitoshi 02-19-2006 11:44 PM

you are lucky man. The night before the show and i still can't get the images to popup correctly. no email from steven, It gives me the error that it's not licensed even though I changed my ip to the correct url. must be missing something somewhere but oh well.

gannawdm 02-20-2006 11:00 AM

GD Settings for images

I've installed the mod and it works great. However, it would be nice if I could specify the quality of the JPGs generated. Some stores may be fine with a JPG quality of 70, but others may need the quality set to 90.

gannawdm 02-21-2006 01:22 PM

Has anybody tried importing detailed images?? I tried this, but the image generator wouldn't display the detailed images on the product pages. In the admin, when I check the detailed images section for a product, it shows the image that I imported, but it won't show up on the customer end until I click on the "Update" button in the admin end. This is a little annoying, because I have to click the Update button for each product individually in order for the detailed products to show up.

Is this a problem with this mod or is it a problem with x-cart?

youngvet1 02-21-2006 01:46 PM

Has anyone been able to contact steven recently?

As I was thinking of getting this mod so i mailed him a couple of days ago, but still no response.

Are there any resellers of this that are very comfortable with installing it?

xcarter 02-22-2006 03:19 AM

Hi guys,

When I uploaded a detailed image, it duplicated my product image and produced a thumnail of the product right next to the detailed image thumbnail.

Please see:

www.homesense.com.au/Round-Glass-Plate-with-Stand-pr-16219.html

Why is this happening?
Any ideas on how I get rid of it?

Thanks.

fdserve 02-22-2006 03:46 AM

As I understand it . . .

If you add a detailed image the mod will create a mini thumb for the original image *and* the detailed image and not just for the detailed image you just added.

You would need to edit one of the tpl files to adjust this.

xcarter 02-22-2006 04:12 PM

Yeah which tpl file though? And what do I edit?

That's pointless. Why would the mod need to duplicate the image?
Definately a fix that needs to be done to this mod.

Stephen, can you tell me what needs to be edited please.

Or anyone?

Thanks.

fdserve 02-22-2006 04:41 PM

It's not duplicating the image. The image is already created when you upload the thumb it just doesn't show it if there are no detailed images. It may be considered superfluous, by some, but I don't think it's pointless.

Megamuch 02-24-2006 06:47 AM

Just bought the mod, work great. Instructions are clear and precise.

Works excellent :)

Worth the cash.

Lionel 02-24-2006 10:06 AM

Can anyone generate the html catalog without problems? I just did and none of the images show up. They are all pointing to wrong directory
/catalog/files/cache/58311973398aa6701bcf73afbe3550d2.jpg adding /catalog in front

I have another issue also (among the big one): Special offers are displaying only portion of images, taken directly from original. Has anyone successfully used special offers with this mod?
