Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

We have gotten it to work & just tried it yesterday after 6 months idle since purchased as we noticed that they had released several updates.

Not sure how useful it can be at the moment since the app is a bit sluggish very intuitive. The idea is very good and we look forward to a day when it doesn't freeze up our desktops:)

Best,
Harris

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

Harris,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am impressed with what it can do and with the interface. It looks like it makes adding products MUCH easier. But it hangs on me when I switch the database profile over to our production environment. I really want it to work but don't want to waste the money if it won't.

Any hints for getting it to work?

Ken

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

I am not very technical! but I have noticed that it doesn't always 'save' new information in the preferences file.

It took 3 or 4 times for it to finally take, also the settings need to be exactly as they are in the database, SSH etc...

It should connect, that it does.

Hope this helps. It's pretty much where my knowledge ends:)

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

I followed all of the instructions and am able to connect to our production database, but once I flip the switch and it tries to bring down the data it hangs. I've sent in a ticket and have gotten no response.

I saw the knowledge base but there is nothing in there that describes the problem I am having. There is no phone # on your web site so I contacted support.

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

I have been trying unsuccessfully to get this working.

I checked the knowledge base of my hosting company (WESH) and found this,

Quote:

Problem:
********
Rather than use phpAdmin, I use a Windows GUI package (mysqlcc) to connect to my MySQL databases. It needs to know Hostname (as well as User name and password).
Answer:
*******
For security reasons we DO NOT allow ANY remote database connections to any of our servers. We have closed all remote ports to databases on both the servers and our firewalls. To administer your databases, you will need to use phpMyAdmin from your control panel. This also applies to programs like NaviCat

I take it this means I can never use this software, unless I move to a different hosting company?

Hi there , just noticed this thread and thought I would throw in my two penny worth.

Your hosting company is quite correct in not allowing external access to you SQL Databases this is a security feature. Howerver the Xcart manager is able to tunnel through SSH in order to access the SQL server. This is very reliable and combined with proper firewall rules in place very secure.

If you are running this in a shared environment, I would suggest that you get this moved to a dedicated server or at the very least a server specifically setup for xcart stores. Sorry but in my experience most shared hosting restrict you too much to be able to build a successfull store based on xcart.

We have built many stores all based on xcart with some pretty amazing results and stores turning over between ё200k - ё300k with a couple of stores now turning over more than ё1Million a year.

to be frank we could not do this in a shared environment and could not have done it without the Magnetic One Store manager. This is one MUST HAVE product if your serious about building an online store.

dedicated hosting these days is very cheap, if your serious about bulding an ecommerce store then take the plunge - you wont regret it.

As one more alternative is working via PHP MySQL Bridge, which is little different then with direct MySQL connection, however works well for many merchants. Mark made good suggestion - one more connectivity method.

Marc

Thank you for your words.
I encourage you to make suggestions in you have any.
