Re: CloudSearch service for X-Cart has been released

Hi guys,

Following up the beta announcement, I'm glad to present the official 1.3.0. Several bugs were fixed thanks to carpeperdiem and kosmos who spotted the problem with overriding link colors in CSS (now you can define animated colors directly in CSS without overriding the whole effect of animation with an !important rule).

This release does not contain the combined listing of products+categories+manufacturers+pages on a single search results page, but it is planned for future versions.

As always, we are open for suggestions of new interesting features.

Thanks Nikita!
If I am upgrading from the beta, do I simply override the module files, or do i have to do an installation process?
Thanks,
J

Hi Jeremy,

Since you already have beta installed, you can just overwrite the files.

Hi guys,

Just wanted to let you know that the updated CloudSearch 1.3 will be included into the upcoming release of X-Cart. We hope that merchants installing X-Cart for the first time as well as those who will do an upgrade, will enjoy how CloudSearch seamlessly replaces the default X-Cart search engine, allowing to deliver the most relevant results to the customers!

Hi Nikita,

CloudSearch via cdn is much appreciated -- but google is still reporting:

Quote:

Consider Fixing:
Leverage browser caching
Setting an expiry date or a maximum age in the HTTP headers for static resources instructs the browser to load previously downloaded resources from local disk rather than over the network.
Leverage browser caching for the following cacheable resources:
http://cdn-qualiteamsoftwar.netdna-ssl.com/cloud_search_xcart.css (expiration not specified)
http://cdn-qualiteamsoftwar.netdna-ssl.com/cloud_search_xcart.js (expiration not specified)

This is a very simple edit, simply declare a cache-time of 8 hours.

WHY do this? Google uses page speed as one element of the search rank algo - so every little bit helps. If it's a no-brainer like this, you can add it to all in a matter of seconds.

Please?

Thanks

J

Hi Jeremy,

It's done.

Is this change ready for download?

Also how much would it cost to use this module if we have 150,000 items in our store. I see it only goes to 50,000

Hi,

What change do you mean? If you're asking about setting proper expiration dates for cacheable resources, then this is already available to all users without the need to download a new version of software.

Just want to make sure of this information, my cloud search version is at 1.2.0 in my gold plus store. To upgrade to the latest version I just have to upload the lastest version of the files, but do not use the installer.

Regards,

Frank

Hi Frank,

You need to run the installer in order to enable the replacement of standard X-Cart search with CloudSearch engine. If you will have any questions regarding the installation process, please ask.
