I agree IF IF IF there was as markup for shipping I might be able to come closer.

I bought a system that was supposed to work. I have been writing software for many years and I really dont want to take on a task on writing the USPS module.

Right now it doesnt work. I have a hard coded shipping cost for the US and another for Canada. And that is my way to get by for now. But it wont be good enough when I add the other items to my product list that have different weights.

Thank you for the report. I will be checking what is going with USPS rates in Luis' shop today and will let you know about results tomorrow.

I think all of this speaks to a larger issue as well - the fact you cannot mark up freight on any of the real-time shipping options (FedEx, USPS, UPS, etc.) - for most of us, this is how we cover things like packaging expense and various other issues.

XC4, I could mark-up shipping for each shipping method (UPS Ground could have a different markup than UPS 2-Day, for example). Is there a plan to add back this functionality?

We are seriously considering adding markups after 5.1 release.

Regarding the module not being able to solve to determine what box should be selected, given the known dimensions of the items and the available boxes that can be selected - this what is called a "bin packing problem", - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bin_packing_problem

I did find one company that will do those calculations and even has an API - http://solvingmaze.com/

Maybe someone out there is up for creating a plug-in module?
