Re: Logo Sprite
I don't think Adobe will abandon the tools or functions in Fireworks -- just the name of the app.
I recently subscribed to CC to take advantage of the "upgrade discount offer", and I couldn't be happier. I was using CS4 and the jump to CC suite has been spectacular. I know, it's an SaaS model -- but for what they are offering --- I upgraded from CS4 design premium -- adding the video/audio production tools + my new best friend, Lightroom!!!! Wow. Reading the Adobe blog re: Fireworks -- I fully expect the Fireworks FUNCTIONS to morph into Ps and/or Illustrator or something new. It's obvious that there was tremendous overlap between the image tools -- I would use Fireworks ONLY for sprites and png handling... kinda wasteful... and I think Adobe figured this out a long time ago. I don't think they will leave us without the tools. My $0.02 J |
Re: Logo Sprite
Fireworks is definitely better at exporting PNG files in terms of quality and file size.
I use it in conjunction with PNG Gauntlet to compress more (no loss of quality). If you compress all the 64 default x-cart PNG images (skin/common_files/images) using the PNG Gauntlet tool, you'll save 79k overall ! Here's a bunch of useful, free Fireworks extensions - Download :) |
Re: Logo Sprite
Adobe is evaluating Fireworks. In CC version Fireworks version remains CS6, all the others are updated. I am a big fan of Adobe producs for more than 20 years. I have a lot of degrees especially in Photoshop. If Adobe thinks Illustrator will take Fireworks's place they really mistake.
