Its cool, I had a plan b that seemed to work. I didnt want to use it because it called for shading portions of the bottom same color as the background, which I didnt want to do in case we ever wanted to change the background color.

have you validated the code? some times a syntax error will cause weird problems with IE and not FF, or safari.
