I have a similar issue....on my home page, http://store.zacuto.com, I have a "Welcome to Zacuto" message, below that a hyperlinked pic and the featured products.
The image is located on our server.
When I try to edit the template using Webmaster mode I am unable to find the hyperlink and image link I originally inserted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps you put the code in the welcome text language variable - look in your 'Languages' area.
