Does this support 4.0.x or have you changed it to 4.1 only?

Same for me, no products/categories. I thought it was just me !

I tried Store Manager last year, but it was so full of bugs I gave up after a short while.

Another bad experience with MagneticOne has been Google Checkout, I misread the requirements. Buying in a rush I saw "PHP 4.2.2+", but missed the bit in brackets with "(PHP 5 is not supported yet)".

This to me is a brilliant Idea, unfortunately I do not trust any third party program to access my SSH or SQL server when vital information is available to people I do not know. This to me posses a security risk.

Now if X-cart came out with a product like this I would be all over it.

You don't disclose any information by using Store Manager.
You are the only person who is accessing your store information.
No information is sent to MagneticOne or discplosed in any other manner.

Technically that simply connecting to remote database(your store) from your local computer - (direct mysql connection or connection to phpbridge that connects to database), nothing else.

Hi,
I may be very naive, Store-Manager seems like a great mod, but what exactly does it do, that regular .csv import/exports don't? and especially how does it specifically benefit stores with 1,000+ sku's? If anything it seems from the demo that there are more manual indiviual steps to do.

I really want to buy this mod, just need some detailed explanations if anyone is willing!

Thanks so much.
Best,
Chris

It has very powerfull and flexible importing tool.
You can import simple lists via standard impot, but when it comes to large lists, I mean REAL LARGE (100 000+ records) lists - windows apps will always have advantages.

Simple examples, you can automatically set field value based on expression during import (like convert currency, increase/decrease price etc).

Even more - for complicated data lists - there is "Automated Import" plugin, i.e. you will configure import rules once and next time when you import - you will just use the configuration you created.

It can run based on schedule, importing data from your supplier every X days etc.

Even more

Product Management
We have Mass Changer plugin - you can change ALL/MASS prices in your store by multiple criteria, say increase by 15% before Christmass adn then decrease by 10% 3 weeks after or for products costing more then $100 decrease price by $5.

You can move 1 000 products from 1 category to other with mouse in seconds (using drag-and-drop)

you can assign 10 000 products to more then 1 category in seconds

you can select multiple custom products and delete them with few seconds

you can assign 10 attributes (for ex. colors, sizes etc) to 10 000 products in seconds

Export
You can export into Excel all products starting with letter "A", from oen of 3 particular categories, priced between $10 and $30, which are in stock and....

I hope you understood :)

Very flexible reporting

You can design custom reports inside the tool and store it for future usage.
You can do this yourself or hire developer who will do this in minutes using visual report/query builder

you can....

well - there are whole bunch of things you can do with this tool and we are working on even more advanced tools

Plan to have basic Busines Intelligence tools added soon.
Such tools are available for shopping carts starting at $10k - $50k +
such services cost like few thousands for single session...

We don't have detailed documentation for it, but we are working on it.

As conclusion

I belive it is better to spend 1 hour once learning the tool and then save 1 hour every day then spend 30 minutes every day doing tedious tasks again and again.

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

Store Manager for X-Cart recently got even better!

Version 1.5.18.495 includes several improvements and new features in product import/export as well as some minor changes

1. Export improvements - select fields you want to export specify custom captions and order of appearance
2. Import improvements - ability to specify more than one category for a product to be imported into, subcategories supported
3. Several minor improvements and bugfixes

Re: MagneticOne Store Manager -- anyone got it?

Has anyone been able to install and use this with success? I downloaded the demo which seems to work OK with the demo database, but I can't get it to work with our production database. Tech support has not answered my questions in a couple of days.

Thanks,
Ken
