I changed my featured products layout to two columns, which got rid of the drop down box, so this question is now moot. Still, it would have been good to have found out how to modify that code.

How about removing the quantity drop down box per product or category? What i mean is that, is there a way to choose only certain products to have the drop down box and some will not have it?
