@Balinor Thanks for the advice. If I use 4.3 and upgrade to 4.4, would it be a smooth upgrade?

What files would be affected so I know which files I need to modify after I've applied customization on various php files and templates.

I guess there will be mysql table mods as well?

I would not do that either - just wait for 4.4 to be released, upgrades from one branch to the next are next to impossible when you start customizing the templates and php files. It should only be a couple weeks, and it will save you HOURS of extra work.

Yeah, you're probably right, but I'm getting quite antsy like most people. It not 6/30 and we haven't gotten a beta release data yet. My project is supposed to start this week.

How long between beta and stable release typically?

It can take TIME for it to become stable enough to use on a live store. Deep time. The kind of time where mountains rise and fall. Well maybe sooner.

I am a little dissapointed they did not finish the beta before end of the month. To get a stable version (if I can call it that) it will take some time (a week, two, a month).

In this moment Roadmap should dissapeared. It could cause confusion and image problems to QT.

X-Payments is also June :oops:

Well, I have build a new store and the client can't wait, which version would be best to use. If do all the preliminary research and database stuff first I could wait a few weeks, but it doesn't look a stable release of 4.4 before August!

Any suggestions...

Its nearly impossible to guanatee a timeframe on any software release, especially with so many factors to consider. This should have been noted when people mention release dates in future, to avoid dissapointment. I would allow for a few weeks either way at least. Im sure when its ready it will be released, and that factors are time consuming are being completed as quickly as possible.

Its only a beta release anyway? so surely only testing will be carried out on this? It sounds like some are rushing to put this in a live store? Thats not a good idea, even if there are new features. I would allow 3 releases at least after a new version is released before considering the next step, whether to use this store in a live environment or stick with the current version.

If you have to build now, I'd go with 4.3.2.

Ok, thanks. Will 4.4 be so different that I'll have to start from scratch or can I salvage anything from 4.3.2 - data tables,php files and templates?
