I hope this is not redundant, but I would like to know how to add/edit images for this mod. I have it running fine, but I would like to place some small images at the bottom of the page (like Visa, Mastercard logos etc) Can anyone help me with that?

1. Does the checkout mod use the skin1.css to determine colors?
2. Is there a way to edit the width of the table? say to 800px?
3. I would like a header area during the checkout that looks like the header on my site, can I edit more then just the picture that came with the mod? to edit the top of the checkout area?

Yes it uses skin1.css

You can edit the table width, and anything else about the layout, by editing skin1/customer/home_checkout.tpl

If i purchase the conversion package with Ez checkout and have you install it, will it overwrite my current template/skin, or will it simply be integrated so that it still looks like the rest of my site (colors, look.....)

It will be integrated, changes are very minimal and works with your current store, not vice versa.

I have the Easy Checkout Mod and EZ Upsell and love them.

But my very first customer couldn't add 2 products to her cart. She added about 8 others successfully.
The products she had trouble with are here :

They are in stock, available for sale, I can add them thru AOM - but can't add them to the checkout from the customer side.

Haven't seen a problem like this before. I've seen problems where an incorrect wishlist mod was redirecting the person before the product was added, but not just two products with problems.

What is different about these two products?

I can't find the problem and will be refering it to Xcart. THey may not want to look as it involved a 3rd party mod. I have exported the product list to Excel and can find no differences. Another product (a book) wont add to cart either. I have over 500 products and have not gone thru each individually to test them (rolleyes). I was going live today but that's been shelved.

I'll try cloning the products..or cloning similar products that work and modifying. I'm not sure how many products are affected.

Someone tell me that this experience gets better please :)

Sorry to hear that, certainly is an odd error. I had a similar type of problem where their was an issue with the wishlist interferring with adding to cart, but it was on all products, not select products, which makes this weird.

I would be happy to look into this for you, and if it turns out it's a bug on my part, cost would be free, and if the bug is on your or x-cart's part it would be billed at the hourly rate.

I tried to go through as many pages as I could to find the answers to 3 questions that I have, but didn't see them on the 12-15 pages I went through (I skipped around).

1.) is there an online/electronic document I can read that tells of the install steps, what can be customized, etc. ?

2.) one of the biggest things I hate about the normal X-Cart checkout (like most!) is the redundant billing and shipping fields. Jon, I see in this one website of your screenshots (www.mixtapemp3.com), that the shipping fields are eliminated. So the billing AND shipping address is combined? This would be very welcomed.

3.) I am currently developing a site in v4.0.7 but will bump up to v4.0.14 soon. Will your mod work with .14 ? And if/when we continue to upgrade X-Cart, will we always have to have a patch or something for your mod, or only if X-Cart drastically changed something for some reason?

1) There is no online install instructions, however as people in this thread can atest, it is pretty straight forward and well documented. You can customize the look however you want just by editing one template file.

2) I manually editted out my shipping fields because a) I don't ship products, and b) When I did I ship products I would only ship to the billing address. This isn't part of ezCheckout but could be done additionally for you or you can do yourself. If your x-cart populates the shipping address from billing if left blank, all you have to do is edit your register.tpl to change all the shipping fields to hidden input fields with no value.

3) Unless x-cart changes things drastically, i.e. converts x-cart to lite commerce, updated zip files have and will be provided free of charge and may require small changes to be compatible when upgrading. Yes it is compatible with 4.0.14.

I thought of yet-another one this afternoon.... I saw on one of the sites that uses your checkout (may be that mp3 one again), that after you add an item to the cart, it will show the cart contents and then had an arrow that took you right back to the item you were just at, or a "continue to checkout" arrow. I want to make sure that the "back" arrow that returns the customer to the last spot they were is an out-of-the-box feature?

The feature you are referring to is ezUpsell, which is an additional mod available at: http://www.websitecm.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=84 or as part the the Customer Conversion Package with ezCheckout and ezRecommends at: http://www.websitecm.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=87

It provides a link to check out or a link back to the product's main category, not necessarily to the last page.

what would I need to do to combine the address page with the payment method page? we are using anonymous checkout, so the customers sign up when they checkout. we want to have as few steps as possible.

Sorry to say I wouldn't know where to begin to tell you how to do that, in my opinion the x-cart registration process is a nightmare (without adding additional information to the process).

Hi Brian, yes instructions work with 4.0.14. Orders will be mailed to you generally in 24-48 hours, but I will be fulfilling orders tonight so you will receive it then.

I'm not sure this belongs in this thread or not but I think it does.

I've purchased and installed Easy Checkout Mod on my X-C Gold v4.0.12. I noted that on the cart page - where I can select a delivery method and submit a discount coupon number - when I submit an invalid coupon number nothing happens. The error messages don't display and the user gets no feedback on what happened. It appears to work fine if the coupon exists but not when it doesn't.

Like I said, I'm not absolutely positive where this post should go but I thought I'd start here since this mod is installed and seems to be in control of the checkout process.

Try opening /skin1/customer/home_checkout.tpl

Been using this mod for sometime.
I found 2 issues
1. If your login fails you are taken out of the easycheckout template. I have a hack that fixes this if anyone is interested?

2. If you have already logged in, you view your cart, and click the Modify button to Modify your address info it takes you out of the easycheckout templated.
(this I do not have a fix for???)

These additions were left out because we wanted to provide the easiest install process as possible to avoid upgrade issues and customer difficulties.

2) You should be able to accomplish this by editing register.php. Not sure if this will work, but you can try it (this is for 4.x):

Yah these other two mods double the install difficulty and only add a minor improvment.
Maybe You should add direction to do this as an OPTION. For advanced users or something.
Either that or I will post my mods if anyone is interested.

Well i'm not a coder or anything like that. Is a miracle i have got this far.
Our old site was a CubeCart store but we moved to Xcart for the modules.
Its not finished yet so still plenty of time for me to balls it up.

I notice that we have a few of the same products. Are yours just downloadable? The reason i'm asking is that my boss desperatly wants to sell ours as mp3's as well as cd's. Well i was wondering if a download mod was do-able. I can't seem to have one product as CD or Download with the out of the box xcart.

The update cart is not a button.

But i do have a buttons/update.tpl

this is the same. for other links

X-Cart uses text and images for submit buttons by default unless javascript is disabled. Why they didn't CSS a form submit button instead I'm not sure.

I have your ez-checkout /plus recommend and others. My question is I had created a help page before where someone could login to there account and it no longer works. Is there a way of doing this with ezCheckout?
