Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Have had a response from them already.
I have tested a stock 4.4.1 Gold installation, the login error message appears in the right top corner (please have a look at the screen shot attached). The problem may be caused by custom design modifications or custom skin integrated to your 4.4.1 sites. Feel free to create a support request in your personal Helpdesk account. Our support engineer will help you to sort this issue out. So it appears it is fine on a stock install. Unforunately we have no way of checking this under https Is anyone else having the same problem? We are running two sites, both have the exact same issue. Thanks |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
CandC, can you try temporarily disabling the JS/CSS speedup tools (in General Settings), and test again? I still don't trust those tools.
I believe the template that displays the messages is - skin/common_files/dialog_message.tpl - which has not been touched in the template. However, there might be a specifc DIV missing somewhere, I am investigating. |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
I gave it a quick whirl, didnt seem to make any difference Phil.
Bit pushed for time at the moment though. Will look at it again later |

Hi Phil, I am experiencing the same issue as in Post #105 of this thread. I have several categories defined. If I "Clear templates/X-Cart cache" the problem goes away, until I click one of the category menu links, then the menu disappears again. If I deselect "Enable horizontal dropdown category menu" in Smart Template options, the replacement menu in horiz_custom.tpl shows up fine. But I want them dynamically generated. I'm using Smart template with X-cart 4.4.2 Any tips are appreciated. Thanks for your help! Justin |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Justin, in 'modules > flyout menus', disable the caching option and your horiz menu should appear fine.
The flyout caching mechanism in v4.4.2 is buggy to my knowledge. Try the bugtracker, eg. https://bugtracker.qtmsoft.com/view.php?id=39274 |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Tried it again Phil, no change.

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
I should have stayed in bed today
Anyone using Alteredcart OPC with this template? If so, any problems, we have an error on the checkout page Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "modules/Checkout_One/head.tpl" in /home/shop/public_html/include/lib/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1093 There does not seem to be a head.tpl :? Thanks:D |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Hi Phil,
I finally installed the Smart Comments mod that came with Smart Template. I followed the instructions in install.txt (triple checked) but when I try to post a comment, it returns me to the store home page with '?#comments' appended to the URL. The 'Comments' tab shows up fine. I disabled the other Customer Reviews module as recommended. Any tips as to what I should check or anywhere I can look for debugging output as to why the comment post is failing? Thanks again for your help. Justin |

IE8 image issue using Smart Template 4.4.x
I have two ST 4.4.2 stores running. One has no appearance problems (croakcity.com). The other, bugsnbees.com, looks as it should using Firefox and Chrome, but when viewed using IE8 the left menu bar background images don't appear.
If I replace my edited reddish.css with an unedited reddish.css, there is no change. The attached image shows the problem. Left, the IE8 view, middle the Firefox/Chrome view, and right the working croakcity.com IE8 view. Any suggestions on why this is happening or how to resolve? I have not tried it on IE9 (IE9 makes my printer stop working). http://www.bugsnbees.com/images/ie8_problem.jpg |

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
I'm getting an error saying that my shared SSL certificate, which is different than my main domain, is not registered with the template.
Does anyone know a way to fix this? I've emailed Phil but I need to get it fixed ASAP considering I've lost two customers over this already. **** ON EDIT **** Phil send me a file to fix it. |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x

In your config file, you need to enter the domain name of the SSL certificate and your store needs to be able to function in a directory under that domain. Two different settings in the config.php for http and https domains... i.e. $xcart_http_host ="www.yourhost.com"; $xcart_https_host ="www.securedirectories.com/yourhost.com"; $xcart_web_dir ="/xcart"; will result in the following URLs: http://www.yourhost.com/xcart https://www.securedirectories.com/yourhost.com/xcart I think that's how you'll have to do it with the shared SSL. I tried shared SSL and it was a pain, esp over at GoDaddy... where I no longer reside ;) Ana |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Thanks Ana-
This was different. I had the https setting correct in the config file; the issue was that when you buy the rights to the template you are buying it for your domain only- if your certificate is a different domain (as was the case with me) then Phil needs to send you a slight mod to accommodate. He did so in my case within a half hour of my email to him. Jason Quote:

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
I don't know if this is a general X-Cart issue or a Smart Template issue so I'll just start here.
The problem is that whenever a customer chooses PayPal to pay they click on the "Submit" button at my store, go to PayPal and enter their info, then they are taken back to my store to the exact same looking page as they were at before. At this point they need to click on the "Submit" button to actually palce the order. The problem is the fact that the before going to PayPal and the after going to PayPal pages are EXACTLY the same. There is language or indication whatsoever that the customer now needs to click on "Submit" again to actually finish placing the order. I have gotten emails from customers telling me that there is something wrong with my store because it isn't taking their PayPal payment. When they are returned to my store and see the exact same page as when they left they think there is something wrong. Who know how many just abandon the cart and go elsewhere. Is this a template issue? Thanks, Jason |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Hi Jason,
I can't address whether or not this is a smart template issue, but it certainly IS a design flaw somewhere! I was having the exact same issue when using Paypal Express Checkout and had countless customers asking if their Paypal order went through, or if it didn't complaining about an order they THOUGHT they had placed. I went round and round with QT who said that is the exactly correct behavior for pp express and to change to using Paypal Standard. Since I've changed over to that (which wasn't horrible, but was a bit of a pain), I haven't had a single comment from a customer regarding paypal. It's not as nice a product for the customer, but I'd rather have a dink-ier look than customers who abandon. If anyone knows how to address this issue, please chime in! Thanks! Quote:

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
The smart template doesn't interfere with the checkout procedure in any way.
I believe that is standard behaviour with PayPal Express and would recommend you try PayPal standard. Even some of the very popular stores I frequent use the standard method as it's less confusing. |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Thanks for the reply! Are you able to take credit cards directly in your website or do they go through Standard? The issue I had that made go to Pro was that I have customers who hate PayPal. Even if they are using a credit card the second they see that "PayPal" name or logo they abandon their carts.
The best solution would be X-Cart fix the design but second to that would be Standard for regular PayPal payments and Pro for on-site credit card acceptance. Thanks, Jason Quote:

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Hi Jason, we use FirstData for our regular credit card processing. I agree there should be a solution from Xcart to indicate that a customer is in the second step of the checkout process when using Paypal Express, but there's a lot of things on the wishlist :) from x-cart.

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
I am in the process of hammering out why with the newest version when someone actually figures out how to pay with PayPal their shipping address and detail does not pass to PayPal. When we get this fixed I'll ask then how the customer is supposed to know that they haven't actually placed their order when they get back

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
I wonder how can I get the discounted price to show on the featured products .
I have got 6 products displaying on the home page using pager mode and I feel that not showing the rrp and the reduced price is loosing sales. Any ideas how can I achieve that ? |

Anyone know a way to get coupon messages when viewing the cart to not be obscured?
If a customer tries to apply a coupon that is invalid or cannot be applied to the item(s) in the cart the message that pops up warning them is obscured by template (see attached screen-shot). Thanks, Jason |

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Thanks for he quick reply but that doesn't seem to have resolved the issue.
I added that section of code and ran cleanup as well as forced cache regeneration via maintenance but the pop-up is still obscured. Thanks, Jason |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
ok, it's because we have used overflow:hidden in the column layout CSS.
Rather than mess with the layout, try this instead... (you can adjust the box positioning with the right and top properties) Code:

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Just to let you know, the template is being tested with v4.4.3 - All good so far...

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Thanks Phil- that works exactly as is. It placed the box right on top and in the middle.

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Hi, maybe a little off-topic but I just wanted to highly recommend Phil and his add-on.
I've just done the install today starting from 4.1.3. The upgrade ran quite smoothly. I'm now running 4.4.3 and Phil's template which is awesome. I had some trouble applying the patch and Phil was lightning fast with his support (and I'm in Australia too!).. His replies were simple and effective and it saved me many hours of mucking around myself! Absolutely 100% awesome. Thanks Phil. Cheers -Paul. |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Is it possible to use the X-Cart 4.4.3 speed up tool to optimize the JS/CSS in the Smart Template?
X-Cart now can create 1 CSS bundle for all stylesheets and 1 JS bundle for all scripts. However, Smart Template includes a bunch of files that aren't included in the optimized JS or CSS. Ideally, the Smart Template files could be packaged together with the standard X-Cart files, but at least, it would be nice if there were just 2 JS and CSS files each, one for X-Cart and one for Smart Template. This page describes the tool in more detail: http://help.qtmsoft.com/index.php?title=X-Cart:CSS_and_JavaScript_optimization For example, it would be great if common.tpl includes would use the load_defer tool like this: Code:
{load_defer file="/skin/smart_template/custom/js/smart_dynamic_search/ajax.js" type="js"} |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Quote:
Yes, it's possible to make some 'load_defers' in skin/smart_template/custom/common.tpl Eg. {load_defer file="../smart_template/custom/js/ie6/ie6_redirect.js" type="js"} However, it appears a limitation of the JS tool, is that it fails on already minified/compressed scripts. CSS files seem to be fine. |
Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
I am now running Smart Template 4.4.3. Seems to be working well. Would be awesome if there was a way to automatically remove CSS that is not in use from the css files. For example, I'm not using the carousel and the CSS was still loading images into the background that were not needed.
I've also gone ahead and done some file size shrinking on the background images. Header.png was originally 41KB.... I was able to bring the total size down to just under 15k with minimal quality loss. Since page load time is a factor in how well a site ranks, it would be nice if there were an easier way to select how "good" of an image you want to load. A bonus would be for a way to quickly remove all CSS elements that are not in use. Nice theme overall. I'm happy with the purchase. Edit: Did I perhaps make too many edits? I'm having a bit of a problem whereas the top horizontal flyout menu goes behind the vertical category menu (on the side). Would anyone happen to know which file controls the positioning of the top horizontal flyout ? |

Re: X-Cart Smart Template v4.4.x
Hoping someone might be able to help me with an install of Smart Template on 4.4.3
I have done over 24 installs & set ups of x-cart, but this is my first with 4.4.3 and first with this template. The 4.4.3 install went fine and with the Light & Lucid skin I could see my categories and have started putting products in. I have just followed the step by step guide for installing the template, and as you can see http://www.eatdrinkstainless.com.au/home.php, none of the stylesheets appear to be working, but more importantly, I can't see my categories or my content or anything. What have I done wrong? I'm usually very good at these things. I have put a ticket in with xcartmods but it's early Sunday morning and thought someone may be awake and able to help me out. |
